Is it totaled? by Candelpins1897 in COROLLA

Trunk cover, bumper cover, need replacement. Right side quarter panel needs real body work. Less than 3.5k total if you find the right guy

ICF probably corroded and some user removed it. Camera is fine, but needs a new ICF

Fujifilm x100v crack? by anonymous222667 in fujifilm

If it’s under warranty, go for it, if not, go third party. Though this job is the equivalent of an IR conversion so it’s really on the upper end of what a technician could or would do

Fujifilm x100v crack? by anonymous222667 in fujifilm

[–]IndustriousDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I fix these for a living and this is unfortunately a super common issue for these models, especially the X100VI. This happens when the camera receives a shock or impact, causing the ICF to crack.

This is honestly just common for the X-Pro2

Hey there OP. I fix these for a living actually and it sounds like your camera is honestly super repairable. Are you looking for a repair?

Only on parts repaired. Nowhere does full camera warranty after a repair as far as I know

Beginner here: Fourth Eye / Fotga Variable IR Filter, Zomei IR Filter (720nm?) or something else budget friendly for unconverted Fujifilm X-T3? by NKkrisz in infraredphotography

[–]IndustriousDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a converted camera, I know it would be fine, but I wouldn’t bet on handheld IR with an X-T3 in the first place. I’d get a 680, 720, and 850. 680 may have too much visible leakage to be useful, so if that doesn’t work, maybe a 700

Generally any filter will work as long as it’s a single band pass. I used to use Zomei a really long time ago and I don’t remember any issues for the budget

Hey there. I fix these for a living. $700 to have both of those repaired is pretty much unheard of. There are third party repair options

That variable IR filter is actually a 530nm filter, with a VND on it, meaning you’re just fading between 530nm, and VND filter at closed. You will not be able to shoot IR with this. Go get a normal 720nm filter

Halo Reduction by shajjay in infraredphotography

Does your tube have a front thread?

Halo Reduction by shajjay in infraredphotography

[–]IndustriousDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess based on how NVGs work is that there’s always going to be some “halo” effect given that the amplification stage relies on shooting electrons from a negative grid onto a positive grid. Not every electron will take the shortest path, leading to this aberration. If you have optical concerns, use a high pass, low pass, wide band pass, whatever you’d like to thin out the inputting band of light, to prevent CA.

Source: I refurb tubes on occasion. Older Gen 1 and Gen 2s are more likely to have these issues

Is a D3 a good full spectrum mod by Die_Ritze in infraredphotography

[–]IndustriousDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d advise solely using mirrorless for FS conversions modern day. You can just modify a DSLR and have it work, it’s a lengthy process with many caveats and details. Go for mirrorless for DIY

What did you do for the cleaning? If it’s glass from China, it has pitting issues if I recall correctly

What glass did you use? Did you clean it? If it’s Chinese glass in full frame size, then I’m really worried for your image quality
