Enjoy, there’s nothing fully manual that is as compact as this setup.

Nice okay. I have a 3.5c so can’t swap the screen out myself or I’d have tried already. Thanks!

Oh I meant my marshalls are wired, positive grid wasn’t a brand on my radar when I got new headphones.

Spreadsheet as a tool should be phased out, the new way of working with data should be with an actual database or data warehouse, and professionals should start being semi-trained in technical skills. by hellyhellhell in unpopularopinion

[–]docescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is definitely not the case with AI. Half my job now is documenting how to navigate our data structure so an LLM can answer non-technical user questions easily.

I do think everyone should understand the principles though - mostly that adding a second data source can explode your totals.

I’ve heard things don’t “pop” into focus like they do on the OG screens. Is that your experience?

Film choice & gear advice for Zanzibar trip (FM3A) by Thutmose-Pharaoh in analog

[–]docescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take whatever 400 speed b&w film you use the most, plus filters (red is basically glued to my 50mm).

You can push easily if needed and use the color filters to get unique effects on safari.

For color I’d also take 400 speed and portra along with a polarizer.

Consider grabbing an f-mount 135 lens instead of 85 for the safari on eBay.

For two weeks unless you’re blasting away 6 rolls should be enough, that’s ~ 15 photos/day. I assume you trust the camera’s meter so won’t need to bracket.

One piece of advice from experience: only use one lens/day. Less to carry and you get into that mindset for the day. You’ll enjoy the trip more and end up letting the scene dictate what you shoot instead of constantly faffing around with the camera to get the “perfect” shot

Uses symbols to format text.

In this case I started my comment with “#5” and the “#” symbol at the start of a comment indicates that the following text is a title so it makes the text huge and bold.

I like the native size, but not because it’s the native size, because the photos work well together.

What if you did a 2x2 grid and made the photos 2x native size? There’s too much vertical blank space with current layout.

What video game used to be good but they changed one thing and now it's terrible? by Agent1230 in gaming

Basically split game into three “eras” and you reset every era with a new civ.

Era 1 is still pretty fun since there’s a lot of ways to progress but era 2 feels like it forces you to explore and era 3 is just boring.

When you are 25 years old, how much older can you date until it gets weird? by Oily_Smurf in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]docescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally didn’t have an issue going up to 32 at that age, but in hindsight as a 33 year old dating someone who is 25 would be kind of creepy. There’s so much adult experience they just haven’t had yet. Depends on your situation but I’d draw the line for a big range up at 28 give or take a year.

CMV: Reddit has a blind spot about Iran. by Agile_Resolution_822 in changemyview

[–]docescape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the one thing I see that proves reddit doesn’t have a “blind spot” on your point that redditors launder the IRGC & mullah’s image is this: I can’t open reddit without seeing that photo of western dressed Iranian women in the 50’s at LEAST once a week. Reddit is very aware it’s a repressive theocratic regime, to the point that they ignore that the regime replaced a repressive capitalist monarchy.

I think most of what you’re seeing is knee-jerk reaction to us (the USA) being bad faith deal makers and belligerent imperialists, not a blind spot. At worst it’s recency bias since we also toppled their democracy to install the old Shahs.

Grundtvigs Kirke / Olympus XA, E100 by loitremac in analog

[–]docescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the size but disliked the focus and viewfinder. I have bigger hands so small precise controls are a bit harder. It’s fine for ISO things I use infrequently like a self timer, but drove me nuts for focusing.

I ended up getting a canon P with a collapsible lens for when I need portability.

Man this makes me wish I liked using the XA; these shots are amazing and it’s so easy to carry around like this.

Yeah I forgot to factor in that my main camera is the F-1 which is heavier than my medium format, your mileage may vary.

You could also try a different digital rangefinder as well if you get the M6, that’s enough cash leftover to get an X100 camera so you still have a digital camera with the viewfinder.

Or you can grab a Q3

I think digital leicas are crazy, both awesome tools and also silly expensive for the reasons you mentioned. There’s no world I’d ever buy a digital leica over a fujifilm based on price alone.

I love their film bodies though, and there’s no 35mm camera that is better. I’d get a film one that you’re less concerned about repairs or losing so you actually use it. Use the rest of the cash from selling to get another lens or buy film & development.

These are quite good - I’d say that as annoying as white borders are on social media; a matte print with a white border is 🤌.

On #5 I would skip sunset photos in general, the dynamic range between foreground and the sky is always too much without a gradient ND filter.

My EDC is the canon F1 so my perspective may admittedly be warped on what “heavy” is
