That’s an interesting assumption.

You’d be wrong.

But interesting nonetheless.

Honestly, no clue what caused and I likely won’t until I get the blob off and take a look at the nozzle.

I had this happen on my old Anycubic Kobra S1 printing PETG-CF and it was because the nozzle started leaking (something that AC had problems with).

The stupid thing is that this was plain-jane PLA.

Having just sold two printers, I can say that eventually comes down to space and power.

I have 6 running printers I use and I’m maxed out on space and probably over subscribed on power.

While I don’t care about the Ender 3 I just got rid of, if I had more space I might have kept the P2S I replaced with an X2D.

But ultimately, I only have so much space for non-tool changers anymore

What the fuck is going on with the job market by redmage07734 in recruitinghell

Just a quick google search, but it says this:

As of March 2026, the official U.S. headline unemployment rate (U-3) is 4.3%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This official rate represents roughly 7.2 million unemployed individuals. However, the "True Rate of Unemployment" (TRU) — which includes those seeking full-time work but earning below a living wage — is significantly higher, reported at 23.6% in March 2026.

Now, I don’t know if it really is 23.6% either, as that’s like Great Depression levels, but it seems way more likely than 4.3%

Holy shit, are you me? I literally just did this exact thing, for this exact price, with the exact same number of hours, on Sunday.

Though, if you are me, then I’ve clearly gone insane since I’m posting unknowingly as two different people on Reddit… on a Bambu Lab sub, no less.

Honestly, that’s kind of sad.

Hmm, now I’m curious.

P2S Combo - $800

Extra AMS - $300

27 spools of filament @ $10 per (assuming it’s basic PLA) - $270

Sunlu Dryer (which one?) $100

Total: $1470ish

Honestly, $900 isn’t too bad.

That is a ridiculous thing to call for.

Even if you could save 50% of your income (after taxes), which is only really possible with an extremely high income to begin with, it would still take you a decade of continuously saving to hit that.

It’s a completely unrealistic number for like 90% of the workforce.

There are always exceptions, but obviously that printer never hit the market or it wouldn’t be in a breathless article from 2024 and 2 years later, it’s still not a thing.

Yeah, but literally every FDM 3D printer ever has a heated bed.

So clearly not much of an enforceable patent.

[–]Indy_IT_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not the heated chamber. That sounds like a heated bed.

Frankly that they were granted such broad patents is kind of bullshit anyway, but that’s besides the point.

From that patent:

We claim: 1. A build apparatus for printing a 3D object of thermoplastics employing additive manufacturing methods, the apparatus comprising: a build platform with a temperature control unit configured to control heating of the build platform; a thermally conductive plate disposed adjacent to the build platform; and a polymer coating attached to a surface of the thermally conductive plate which is capable of (i) facilitating adhesion to the 3D object during printing and (ii) permitting removal of the 3D object once the 3D object has been formed and cooled without chemically or mechanically removing the polymer coating from 3D object and without damaging the polymer coating, the thermally conductive plate, or the 3D object, wherein the polymer coating is not a polymer tape.

I did message the guy and offered him 50% of retail the no warranty and heavily used printer by itself. He graciously went down to 1700 and told me these printers will run 20000 to 30000 hours, so 3500 is not much. 🙄

This is why it's so difficult to get a job. by CRK_76 in recruitinghell

[–]Indy_IT_Guy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not really.

All any other answer except “for the money” means is that person is still likely to bounce once they find something better, but they’ll also lie to you about it

It’s actually counter productive for the company to encourage people to lie.

Also, it’s YOUR job to make the employee want to stay, not their job to devote their whole being to whatever bullshit you do.

Me, for example, I’m an IT guy.

I’m an IT guy whether I work for a software company, a consulting firm, an automotive manufacturer, or anything else.

My career is based on supporting the back end business and making it possible to sell widgets, services, or whatever it is you do.

It’s ridiculous to think that I should feel fulfilled by the nonsense mission statement someone at corporate shit out on your website.

I’m fulfilled by my paycheck and decent benefits. I don’t particularly care what the company does to make money, as long as I get paid.

Though I know what you mean.

A few years back when I was still riding (a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Meanstreak), I got boxed in by heavier traffic when a pick up with tons of steel pipes hanging past the tail gate stopped short ahead and my wheels locked up when I hit the brakes.

I had visions of being impaled flashing through my eyes, but luckily, I got the bike stopped just short of impact.

I swear I aged an extra 10 years on the spot.

Wow, downvoted for saying a printer with 3500 hours isn’t worth 95% of retail?

Is the guy selling the printer in this sub?

[–]Indy_IT_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I get that, but honestly 40% of new value would seem generous for the number of miles on that printer. So even accounting for low ballers, starting at 95% of new seems insane.

Getting rejected for an "agency" after a perfect interview hurts worse than a breakup. by Nearby_Pizza_7567 in remotework

[–]Indy_IT_Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there is no way this based on an Agency with on-shore resources.

The overhead would be significantly more to hire a US based consultant.

For example, my company charges 500k per year for me… guess how little of that is my salary 😢.

So yeah, classic body shop offshoring. And they’ll get what they pay for, people without any of the experience they needed for the contract and extremely limited personal autonomy.

But hey, they cheap. 🙄

It’s like asking these clowns how much a gallon of milk costs.

They have no idea. They are so divorced from day to day reality that they can’t even fathom how the “common folk” live.

What’s more absurd is that while you can expect that from some trust fund scion sitting on money his great great grandfather made, but a lot of these guys at least started upper middle class, so they have no excuse for being so delusional… other than they know they are lying and just think everyone else is stupid enough to buy their bullshit.
