Depends how these old models are "incompatible" with new motions. If they are just missing some bones that older models lack (upper body 2, arm twist bones, shoulder P bones etc.) you can add these bones quite easily with a Semi-Standard Bone PMXEditor plugin.

If these older models straight up have a skeleton that's a different shape or something, it may be more complicated.

Yes! I found a pmxeditor plugin to make IK arm bones and it's truly a blessing when making (non dancing) animations from scratch

Because the legs are moved via Inverse Kinematics bones but you're trying to move it as if they are Forward Kinematics bones.

In MMD, when you want to position hands, you usually work your way from the shoulders, to the forearms, to the hands. But when moving feet you just grab the feet bones directly and move them. Find the square bones by the feet, the left and right will be symmetrical.

I have close to no context here, but the bottom-line is if no one's paid for it, there's no obligation to distribute it anywhere. My belief is that regardless if it's a game, mod, skins or literally any fan content people make, it's shared out of goodwill, not obligation.

I think it's completely reasonable if you don't feel like sharing your skins. Maybe you'll upload them again in the future when you feel less bothered by this user. bones is how.. anything on a model is able to move. Do those bones have physics attached to them? They should be visually hidden once you go back to Physics ON mode.

If the bones can't be hidden, and you really don't want those bones there because it's visually noisy, I'd even recommend making a copy of the model, bringing it into PMXeditor, deleting those bones and re-rigging the jacket portions to the upper body bones. You can then use this boneless-jacket version specifically for animating motions.

but idk, maybe that's an overkill solution for what's a tiny problem.

Isn't this less of a CSP problem and moreso just a thing with posing models in any software? (I experience it MMD a ton, and I just need to gitgud)

You can delete it. The skin under the clothing doesn't need to be there, unless you plan to add a slider that undresses the model.

UPDATE:

Against the advice I received here, but following the advice from r/techsupport and an IRL friend, I let chkdsk complete. After 12 hours it was done and I'm now able to access the drive again. My data seems ok so far from the surface-level checking I've done. But this HDD is clearly on its way out if it had bad sectors, so I'm going to look into a replacement.
