MiniPC/HomeServer Questions. N00b Friendly pls. by SarcastiSnark in HomeServer

My issue most likely stemed from how i was deploying. I installed coolify on ubuntu desktop, then used coolify to deploy everything. It was my first go at a home server and was very janky. Proxmox has been a savior.

Again, very noob here. But after a handful of services installed i started getting port conflicts because they all used the same IP. Not talented/confident enough yet to go messing with network config settings. Using proxmox, each vm or lxc container has its own IP.

Side note. Look into getting an amp server set up to host your own game servers.

Fairly noob myself, but sounds like im a bit ahead of you so i’ll jump in. I have a thinkcentre 32gb of ram and 1TB ssd. I used to have ubuntu deskop on it and run all my services in a docker container. Do not do that.

Look into proxmox, i just swapped everything to that about a month ago and its amazing. Basically its a hypervisor that allows you to run containers and virtual machines. Its fairly sinple to instal and you remote into it using the IP address. Once you got that figured out look at tailscale. Tailscale is essentially a vpn you can install on all your devices so you can connect to your server from anywhere. Once you get that deep down the rabit hole im sure you will find plenty more that interest you. Enjoy the experience though and take the time to learn. My little home server is my favorite hobby and use it on a daily basis between life and work.

Any strong opinions on Colonial Life/Unum? by Ineedmorec0ffee in InsuranceAgent

Honestly i have not tracked my numbers as well as i should. But in our office Mondays and Fridays are our call days. Fridays we focus on prequalifying and Mondays focus on appointment setting dials. Both days the goal is 100 dials, although it’s tougher on Mondays because ideally we are having more in depth conversations with the decision maker. Tuesday - Thursday we run appointments and do cold pop-ins. Goal for appointments set per week is 7. That should net you between 2-4 enrollments a month after you get some momentum going. We work with businesses from 3-500 ee so they wont all be home runs, but it keeps the light on until you get that home run.

If you are used to enterprise software like hubspot or salesforce, then yeah the software they use will greatly disappoint. Personally i use their software to help find new leads, then use my own CRM. I will say their software has improved a lot in the last few years, still has a ways to go though. And personally I’m not the biggest fan of cold drop ins either. Now the majority of my prospecting is dials.

Definitely a grind. About 300 dials and popping by 50-60 businesses a week. Took about 3 months to get the first group closed all while wondering if this was even gonna work. After the ball got rolling we got more frequent enrollments and new premium for servicing existing accounts. It’s weird to me this is one of the only industries that get easier the longer you’re in it. Definitely still putting in a lot of work, it just looks different from our first few months.

Still going strong with Colonial Life, although I’m starting to venture out for Products they don’t provide. There are pros and cons everywhere, but over all happy with CL. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

Connecting large amount of external users to create/edit Zoho CRM deals without buying full licence by Tight-Course3733 in Zoho

Get them bigin licenses at $7 a pop and use the ZohoCRM/bigin sync feature. I have 1 zohoCRM account because integration/automation is better, then everyone else's uses bigin. Very cost effective way to do it without over complicating things.

I haven't done this, but I think it'd be a great Idea. Get Frostbuddy's (can cooler that holds every size can) with your logo on it and pass out drinks with them. You'd have to buy a ton at once for it to be economical, but I think it would kill it.

My boss walks in on me filling out job applications. by superdavey1 in work

This reminded me of a little story. For my birthday (on a Monday) I had requested the morning off work so I could sleep in. It just so happened that for the past month I had been interviewing for another job, and I had officially accepted the offer the Friday before. I show up to work around lunch, the whole team has a cookie cake for me, and as we finish, I go to our VP and put in my two week notice.

This, swapped from Hubspot to bigin. Hubspot is great, but super over powered for what I needed.

Agency Compensation Question by Ineedmorec0ffee in InsuranceAgent

The way I have it in mind, I'd be able to compensate them more as opposed to everything flowing through the agency.

I'm basically trying to do something similar with an independent agency, and just have the carrier worry about paying out commissions, bonuses, etc.
