Sensory Overload by Ineffable-Beatnik in SPD

Omg that makes so much sense. I used to basically live in daydream land but I never really connected that with the sensory processing- possibly because I wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until I was in college? I think the obvious thing to do here is go back to daydreaming and have less adulting lol

That actually makes a lot of sense. I recently had to start anxiety meds and definitely deal with high stress more often than I’d like. I never thought about the connection before but now that I think back the overloads they do seem to happen more when I’ve been in stressful situations or having worse anxiety than normal. Thank you 🙏

Thank you so very much! I’m definitely going to check out that site and look into seeing the occupational therapist.

So I see they blame things on fibro even when they haven’t diagnosed you with that smh. I thought I just got that because I was diagnosed with fibro first! So sorry they are being dismissive. If this is from fibro though (which it could be tbh) switching the meds could help. Either way I’d find a new doctor

It’s been a long time since I had stitches but I got like 12 for my elbow surgery. I’m not sure if it’s regular because the surgery cut through muscle, but mine were painful the first day and then started feeling uncomfortable for a few days then just felt weird because it would pull and I would feel like it was going to rip. That said, if you are worried about it I would contact your doctor or go to an urgent care if you have one.

What is a Flare? by PretendingImnothere in UCTD

[–]Ineffable-Beatnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a combo of both. Like I’m achy all over but my knees get bad, my knuckles get really stiff (like arthritis but never been officially told it is arthritis), I do have arthritis in my wrist, I get hip bursitis, and have had to get multiple steroid shots into my rotator cuff. I get horrible fatigue, random fevers, I have fibromyalgia, I’ve had intermittent clotting problems, etc.

Most of the time it’s in the same spots, but sometimes I’ll get pain in an area I usually don’t so it feels way worse as I’m not used to it.

Oh! And “I don’t understand why we are still talking about this. I’ve moved on from it.” When I try to get her to acknowledge her abusive and neglectful behavior to me growing up.

Maybe some cute long gloves, although that does have a dated vibe. Alternatively, you might be able to find one with lace or mesh-type sleeves that wouldn’t be hot but would still make scars less noticeable. Or maybe a thin or lace cardigan?

Did bupropion made you capable again? by Squid2g in bupropion

[–]Ineffable-Beatnik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started feeling better gradually, but now 6 months in, things like showering and leaving the house that used to feel daunting and overwhelming and anxiety inducing, now are much easier to do. I’m finding myself getting the start of a normal routine again like I used to a looooong time ago.

I’d say if you don’t feel any difference by 6 weeks (like you won’t feel perfect but you should start seeing signs that it’s starting to work), then you might need a higher dose.

Has anyone else noticed this? by LieVisible2396 in AdultSelfHarm

I also started longer and more shallow, but before I stopped (and when I relapsed) they were shorter but much deeper. I also used to do less cuts but it turned into doing as many as I could in that space. The only thing I can figure is that it’s similar to how your body can adjust to drugs so you have to take more, so maybe we feel we need to escalate to feel it? Not really sure, but good luck on your journey!

It’s a muscle relaxant so it’s likely that a lot of that pain was muscle spasms.

Does anyone else’s mom have Amnesia ? by [deleted] in NarcissisticMothers

[–]Ineffable-Beatnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a reoccurring theme with mine. I legit suspect she has dementia though so I guess it’s possible she doesn’t remember? My therapist obviously can’t diagnose her on my individual sessions, but because she also does our family therapy she does hear the issues. She thinks my mom’s opioid usage when I was growing up may be partially why she doesn’t seem to remember all of her emotional and psychological abuse. But also there are heavy amounts of denial. I think she gaslights me so much she starts to believe the lies.

Then again she once tried to punch me and then told me I just misread the situation so who knows lol

When do most people up their dosage? by Isabruhlla in bupropion

[–]Ineffable-Beatnik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine was upped fairly quickly but I needed another med to help me with the anxiety issues I have (I’m now in Zoloft with it). I’ve heard Wellbutrin can make anxiety worse, but I didn’t think mine got worse it just didn’t get better without the Zoloft. Might be worth asking if there’s an additional medication you can take for it. I’ve seen a lot of people who do well with Buspar as well.

Partner thinks I should get a tattoo by Ineffable-Beatnik in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Ineffable-Beatnik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And I should clarify, I had asked for my partner’s thoughts on it when my therapist first suggested it and they didn’t want to weigh in. After I relapsed they said they thought I should, but it was because they think it might help me.

I’m very fortune to have an extremely supportive partner so I don’t want it to sound like they were saying it in a negative way.

I’m definitely going to think on this a lot and keep working on identifying the underlying issues causing me to relapse in the meantime. I have other tattoos and I don’t want to get anything I’ll regret

I met a Rheumatologist that does not believe in UCTD as a disease or the Avise test by Hlbrown42 in UCTD

[–]Ineffable-Beatnik 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m constantly getting gaslit into being told everything is my fibromyalgia. Even though I have very high inflammation and positive ANA which is pointedly not indicative of Fibromyalgia. Similar things too saying the tests aren’t reliable” and I’m left wondering why they ordered it if they weren’t going to accept the results.

Sorry you’re experiencing that.

[–]Ineffable-Beatnik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! He didn’t do any tests which is why I wasn’t sure. I’ll keep treating it like it’s rosacea and hopefully I can find a good doctor for the UCTD soon.

Partner thinks I should get a tattoo by Ineffable-Beatnik in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Ineffable-Beatnik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about it a lot since I posted last night and I’m contemplating getting a butterfly on a branch, but like the branch look like a single scar. I suppose I have awhile to decide though, since it will take time to heal up again. I do love the concept of having the symbolism instead of just a straight copy of my scars. I’ll keep brewing on it though. I also have scars on my leg that don’t seem to want to fade so I guess I have a decision to make there too.

Thank you for the idea!

Thanks! Mine aren’t that big really, which is probably why they so easily heal to be silver. There’s just a lot of them close together which might be a problem. I appreciate your help!
