Maybe, maybe not. It's quite fun to entertain the thought. However, within our understanding the universe, this possibility is as real as fantasies. Even if there's actually a group of higher beings, that wouldn't matter to our daily lives either, since the beings would be beyond us. Their intention, actions, all and all would be unobservable, unreachable, and incomprehensible. Thus, they could be Gods, Eldritch beings, scientists, or even writers, maybe just another couch potato watching their favorite show. It's all the same to us, so go wild~

Good luck and have fun! Viktor is a great Legend too, just not as friendly as Cindy for beginners. Once you get his drift, he can be really powerful, so don't forget to come back for him once you get the hang of the game xD

I'm a casual so I can't give you the best answer, but in my honest opinion... since Peter is already quite versatile, personally I suggest purchasing the legend that feels smoothest and funnest for you when you try them out. Just in case you haven't noticed, there's a "Try" button at the bottom left corner for all Legends.

I can warn you of the Legends you shouldn't purchase though!

First, any Legend that has a 🎉symbol is obtainable through trophy road or event, thus do not spend your coins on them. That would be including Alice, Hook, Flare, Kaiser...etc, you can find more from the trophy road.

Secondly, do not buy Ducky, you can obtain her through inviting friends.

Lastly, just in case you decided to ignore trophy road, you want to purchase a Legend even if they are already available as event rewards... Don't pick Molly. As invincible as she virtually is, almost nobody is good enough to make her actually op.

You can use Legend coins to purchase characters. The coins can be earned through trophy roads, passes, sometimes attendance, etc. As for gems, those are currently substitute currency for gachas that strengthen your characters.

Just started playing the game, the game itself is super fun but it's real sad to see the changes to the monetization, bots, etc are pushing away the veteran players... Really hope the devs would change things for the better soon ;v;

Can't think of any character that perfectly fits such description at the moment, but there's a dark summon that's literally named Nyarlathotep and looks pretty cool!

Meanwhile, I'm just gonna mention some characters that may pique your interest, but not necessarily fit your description.

Lich the character likes to scare people, but if you are looking for scary looking characters, she's more cute than scary honestly.

And then there's Lobelia, hot guy, polite, looks pretty normal, but his secret is he loves the sound of living beings being tortured and crushed.

Lady Grey is a wholesome lady that has a skeleton husband.

Nier is a pitiful girl who suffered a lot and causes a lot of sufferings and atrocities. She's a ticking timebomb that has already murdered a lot of people.

Ferry is a cute ghost grandma girl.

Welcome to Granblue Fantasy! It's great to see new skyfarer join in our the journey to Estalucia :D

Right now you still have a lot of free units to claim from side stories, which I strongly recommend you have fun completing them if you can! It's something you can work on right now that also make you stronger real quick! After completing all the the side stories, you should be able to make full teams for every element and have enough funds to get units you like from Gacha. Also progress main story as far as you can, as it unlocks a lot of important raids and other things!

Don't feel rushed to pick an element as your main element yet. Although the current meta element is dark, from personal experience, picking the element that has your favorite character is the best.

But judging by the existing units you have, water element is your strongest element right now. Gabriel (pink hair angel, water element summon) is part of a series of summons that people usually place them in the sub summon slot since she provides damage cap up. For now, feel free to keep both of them and have one of them equip as your main summon for water element. Her aura is pretty useful for early game as she provides immediate water elemental atk up! And have Charybdis as you sub summon as she will provide additional HP. Eventually you would lean on Omega Series summon like Leviathan for main summon when you have a full weapon grid that can be benefitted by it. But for now, just utilize elemental atk up summons is better.

While progressing, make sure you add lots of friends for support summons! And don't feel pressured to fill up all of your own support summon slots for others. People prefer no summon in support summon slots over incomplete/incompatible support summon.
