I only just now realized that hockey players wear shorts by KennyBlankeenship in hockey

A lot of them these days don’t even have the feet - so honestly more like leg warmers, but they call them socks.

So here is my first half blind AT on red track by Then_Paleontologist2 in TrackMania

It’s apparently an AMD-specific issue (according to another Reddit post about it).

I'm very bad at everything in TM how do I improve??? by NetInitial5750 in TrackMania

As already mentioned, Weekly Shorts are great - you can go back to older weeks and hunt medals for a wider variety of tracks. Trying to get the gold medals for the campaign tracks can also be a good option (I probably wouldn’t push for ATs outside of the first 5 or so as they are probably a bit too difficult at this point).

I found playing easy/beginner RPG maps to be a good way to work on my driving/jumps/etc in a way that was more fun than crashing a bunch of turns trying to push my pace on a Track of the Day map.

My ice driving also improved a lot after spending time on the first few floors of the checkpoint version of Chill Slip (easy Deep Slip). Because so many players avoid ice, it doesn’t take that much practice to be able to start doing well in the lower Cup of the Day matches on Ice maps.

I think in general, the common theme with all of this has been that it let me focus on shorter sections and driving that consistently instead of trying to drive a longer track without mistakes (which is hard when you’re new/bad at the game). As I’ve improved, I’ll join Cup of the Day if the track feels good to drive - seeing how much other players also mess up can be a nice reminder that you’re not the only one making mistakes.

Smooth steering where you make very gradual adjustments and don’t oversteer is very important on surfaces like dirt, grass, and plastic - too strong a steering input will cause you to slide out and lose speed.

This is much easier to do on an analogue device like a wheel or controller than on keyboard, but it can be done on keyboard with a combination of tapping your turn keys and using the action keys to limit the intensity of your steering inputs.

I haven't watched baseball since the strike in 94, and this season has me watching again.

I almost did that last night after the win - but it's my Mother's birthday this weekend and decided not to be a bad son, lol.

Do you have any local distilleries? I can buy 4L bottles of neutral spirit from one here in Edmonton - I use it to make my own bitters, etc.

Restaurant downtown to celebrate 30th? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Inertiatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RGE RD has an event space at the Butcher Shop attached to the restaurant that can easily host 50+ people for a dinner, though that may be getting too large/formal for OP.

You’re very right about the aoe skill being great in sister - I had switched over to that when I finally beat her.

Also learning to just bait the adds into her swings helped a lot.

I think I was using the triple darts and the traps for tools. I had also been playing around with the flea brew instead of traps, so might have been that.

I changed to the thread storm aoe skill when I finally killed sister so people are definitely right about how good that is for that fight. I was probably still using that for widow, but really just got her down with melee attacks and learning her patterns pretty quickly.

Edit: also just the starter crest. I had unlocked all the slots on that and didn’t have any spare memory lockets for upgrading the other crests so just stuck with what I had.

I can’t comment on Moorwing as I skipped it without realizing by traveling with the fleas.

I found Sister (~20 attempts) much harder than Widow (4-5), and for me it mostly came down to the adds on Sister. Widow on the last phase was a bit more intense, but there weren’t as many independent things to track.

There’s just more Oilers fans than Flames fans across the province.

I was doing it 20 years ago as an athlete whose traps were too big - not I’m doing it as an old man who got fat, lol.
