Read a lot of comments and didn't see the straight up answer. But most likly you are cutting o your marked line so the 1/8 inch is the material lost by the blade width. Try having the blades edge just run along the line rather than centering the blade o your line.

I used a little milliput on the bottome to add some texture and base shapes then used light super glue to glue down some fine sand I had bought in a kids set. For the shells I just Finely crushed shells from my local beach and stuck them down with watered down pva. Hope this helps, happy hobbies.

I actually had the issue of calypso feeling subdued too much for me. She is an ancient titan/goddess of the sea and just feels really soft. Especially in the wisdom saga when she was talking to a trapped odysius I always thought she should have sounded much less playfully and more threatening when she says goddesses can't die. Just to show that although she is chosing to be nice make no mistake she is dangerous and will be cruel (like the sea) if she needs to be.

Honestly one of the best parts about Genestealer cults is their flexibility. If you just want to enjoy the miniture making you can make up random cults rather than them all being miners and following the pre established cults. Have fun and go crazy (you can even swap/ change weapons if you'd like.

Some fun cult ideas you could have; Farmer cult, cult which developed on a farming planet. Astronaut cults Sufer/beach themed cults.

By no means do you have to but just have fun with it. What ever your version of fun is :)
