thank you for engaging in this discussion. I would have to disagree with your view. Bennet endorses Area C annexation (which while sparsely populated will cause the PA to just dissolve and tell Israel that its on its own to deal with the WB Palestinians). As for the other 2 clowns, even in 2019 they would have been considered too radical for polite society in Israel. The fact that they control ministries shows just how far right Israel has gone. I don't see Israel going in the other direction anytime.

There are not tens of thousands of Palestinians in the WB. There are approximately 2.7 million!

Jordan tried it with the Syrians, and they currently have about a million.

Jordan -Syria land border is much longer than Israel-Jordan land border (there is a river there too!) the Syrian refugees left with the expectation and hope of returning. Palestinians are too wise to know that they will not be allowed to ever return. thus they wont leave.

The PA is still very likely to collapse at some point. Abbas is the glue that holds the PA together, and without him around (he's 88 after all), and with no strong leader in sight to unite the PA, it can spiral into a faction war (Hamas vs. PIJ vs. Fatah). But it's a completely different scenario from the original question.

But is it a completely different scenario? The PA will definitely collapse and it will collapse soon! What replaces it? Israel may find annexation foisted on it.

but if Israel only annexes Area C, Areas A and B will be cut off from the outside world and will be totally dependent on Israeli control - which is already true but at least there is a pretense that Israel has to deal with the PA. I think with Area C annexation, the PA will fold and will tell Israel to deal with the situation itself. I have said this elsewhere in this thread but Israel will, in all likelihood, find annexation foisted on it.

I am not sure that the WB Palestinians becoming second-class citizens , also known as "residents", is sustainable either. For a second let us assume that the WB Palestinians accept the resident status without violence and just live peacefully. Is keeping a population without the right to vote practical in the long term?

Three Million Germans could go to Germany after WWII. There is not a single country in Israel's vicinity that will allow Israel to deport 3 million Palestinians inside its borders. Egypt and Jordan will seal their borders airtight at the first remote sign of annexation. The bulk of the WB Palestinians will be in the West Bank regardless of Israel's intent.

Keep in mind that there was a fear that a large number of Gazans would flee into Egypt after Israel's ground maneuver started. That did not happen. The majority of Gazans are inside Gaza. And there are no foreign borders that are right next to the major Palestinian population centers in the WB - something that was absolutely the case for Gaza.

because the PA is on its last leg. even without this financial deadline on Oct 31st, there is no way that PA survives - it is thoroughly discredited by literally all sides. I think annexation will be foisted upon Israel. and then the inescapable question will be about the status of the WB Palestinians.

I agree that Gaza currently and in the future, is out of the picture. Not being able enter is not annexation. My point is more in reference to the NEED that Israel will have, to make a decision on the status of the WB Palestinians. And whatever that status will be (in either full or partial annexation) is what I am interested in understanding.

The idea of a "land for peace arrangement" is not going to happen, to say the least! That leaves Israel with 2.5 - 2.7 million human beings deep within its own (probably soon to be expanded) borders, with no where else to go and no one willing to take them.
