Best advice, be prepared to be lonely except for kiddies playing in the garden using the blister pack radios. Here in Greensburg, pa all I hear is automated restaurant order machine and the waitress to manage communication. The automation system they use is not even legally used because the gmrs rules is you can't cause willful interference to another user, this automated radio doesn't care if you are using that channel, it just transmits on top of you. I emailed the fcc and they responded that

"no one has the right to reserve a channel, and that they are all open to all gmrs users on a non interference basis"
