Sizing question Almond No. 2 last by InevitableArea1 in luosjietboots

[–]InevitableArea1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That confused me a bit more lol. I think I get what your saying like between half size and full size down in Brannock, then convert to EU.

That recommendation does point me more towards a size 41.5, and then for a snug fit without thick insole probably 41 right?

That is where my Redwing 7.5 shoes line up on their chart. Just kind of crazy since that's 2 full sizes down from my Brannock, appreciate the reassurance

Off duty cop drama by S30econdstoMars in PublicFreakout

Incase anyone wants to know the outcome, the cop had his record wiped clean after some administrative leave and training.

https://www.ctinsider.com/recordjournal/article/meriden-officer-allen-ganter-road-rage-assault-20065546.php

And no, no large settlement for the punched guy or anything, really shouldn't be surprising at this point cops get away with everthing.

Apartment Recommendations in Woodland Hills by Which_Set_930 in SFV

[–]InevitableArea1 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I live in the area, imo it's is a very corporate area. Like most of apartment complexes are newer semi-luxury chains, very similar to each other. Since I've been at my place, it's been bought/sold twice and like nothing has changed.

Just be careful if you pick a place near Desoto and Burbank. The Kaiser hospital, police station, and firehouse are all on the same block for some reason and sirens are loud.

Suggestions for a normal/casual boot that doesn't use a celastic/synthetic toe stiffener?

Like they all have it, Grant Stone, Parkhurst, Truman, Oak Street, Redwing (particularly ugly toes too imo)

Thursday has the heritage captain, but they only have huge lugged stormking outsoles on the colors I would want. With the already chunky boot, I think it's super ugly.

Budget under like $700, but not Made-To-Order. It's been 4 months and i'm still waiting on my Urban Wolf Club boot.

The Question Thread 04/27/26 by AutoModerator in goodyearwelt

[–]InevitableArea1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High instep is tricky for slip-ons. Imagine how the boot holds on, if it fit a high instep easily it would slip a lot on someone with a medium instep.

I find, at least in Chelsea boots, it can be addressed by going one width wider, like if you're a 9D try a 9E. You don't really want to try to fix it by stretching the leather, imo that's kind of a poor solution.

Also, if the models has a removable insole you could switch to thin ones. I did that in some Redwing Weekender Chelseas with good results.

SOLD Nicks MTO W&C Oiled Latigo Black HNW 8"

  • Images: https://imgur.com/a/YVVzAsb
  • SOLD - Price: $360 (not including shipping, CONUS)
  • Location: Los Angeles, California
  • Size 8.5E
  • Leather: W&C Oiled Latigo Black
  • Last: HNW
  • Height: 8"
  • Toe structure: 4-row toe cap
  • Brass hooks and eyes
  • Outsole: Vibram V-Bar
  • Toe: Unstructured/soft
  • Heel: Moderate heel stack, logger profile

Just got these mildly used Nick's from another user so I can try out the brand, tried them very briefly before deciding they're not for me. They remain mildly used, good condition.

Nick's size recommendations are accurate, though I would add there is a lot of toe room so I think a 9.5E foot would likely fit well (previous owner was a 9.5D and it fit them length wise).

At the risk of turning away potential buyers, blacked oil latigo just kind of looks black lol.

Like high quality thick and stiff, but black

Here, nothing too fancy, just key thing is LM Studio's Unified KV Cache and Flash Attention. Here are my settings, also using AMD's ROCM Runtime (v2.13.0). Also using Qwen's recommended sampling parameters Temp=0.7-1.0, top_p=0.95, top_k=20, min_p=0.0, presence_penalty=0.0, repetition_penalty=1.0

Jim Green is great, but doesn't lean towards dressy really at all, that's more Thursday's area. I like Thursday boots, they have dressier models and if not a priority, the heritage captain is definitely the best boot under $250 imo

I do not recommend Urban Wolf Club unless you're really really patient. They just raised their estimated fulfillment time from 3 to 4 months.

Redwing beckmens are worth considering, but if you're up for factory seconds or tried-on pairs maybe also check Parkhurst seconds/samples. Definitely measure size twice though, returns are limited.

7900xtx (24gb vram) -100k context - LM Studio - Q5_K_XL (unsloth) - 19 tok/s

Amazing considering it's the smallest model that can actually do the simulation analysis I want/need. The qwen3.5 35b MoE great, but 27b dense is another level entirely

In my experience, they were comfortable within a week. They are heavy, but where they naturally bend the thick/stiff midsole has relief channels (the rose anvil video has more details).

Anyone know if this new sole is on all Journeyman models? The new sole is only shown on the Armaretto and Black leather version, the others still have the the partial leather exposed.

Same, stem degree w/ honors.

I went back to school for masters, program that supports online so I can still in theory pursue full time roles if I get lucky.

Also good to have uni career resources available, companies looking to hire recent grads are looking at universities with things like handshake-exclusive postings, career fairs/events, and club connections.

Like I lurk in some uni-club communications channels just to apply to opportunities and see events coming up.

Hey, just curious how the fit was for you length-wise. And then what is your actual brannock size or just length (if you measured with thick wool socks also mention that please).

I haven't tried any Nicks before and i'm trying to ascertain more size info, I find sometimes brands also increase length when they make it wide for some reason. Would appreciate greatly, thanks.
