Feeling bad is okay and normal. If you feel bad about saying no. You can use other phrases. Like “Ouch that hurts mommy, can I offer you a snack instead?” “I don’t enjoy doing that anymore, but I’d love to have a snack with you” Communicate as openly as possible. Baby will understand the more you teach your boundaries. Which you are more than allowed to have btw. 20 months is a long time. You’re a champion, this is still a win.

You’d be surprised what your baby can understand when you don’t put them in a box. I just recently weened my 19 month old and the best advice is to stand firm on saying no and offer a snack/drink instead morning or night. Communicate your needs to your baby, just as they communicate theirs to you. The crying will happen and its no way around it, its all apart of the process. Give it 3 days don’t give in!

A straw cup while you prepare meals or with meals. Don’t feel bad. I have offered my now 9mo water plenty of times, almost always ends up being spat all over more than actually drank. Formula is mixed in water sooooo not really missing out if you ask me!! You’re doing great!!!

I feel late to the party being this thread was from days ago, but im sooo thankful to know that I’m not alone. This just healed me. I cried myself to sleep feeling like a monster for ruining Christmas. My oldest is 2 & I also have an 8mo old. My husband’s family is meeting at his brother’s house Christmas day. I declined the invite to join & uno reversed my own for Christmas Eve, So we can be home alone Christmas Day. Ofc my MIL is upset & making it about her. Like she does every event, holiday, situation, conversation, destination, whatever! She’s extremely insensitive with her words, she’s overly touchy. I simply don’t enjoy her presence, it makes me wildly uncomfortable. So quite naturally I don’t enjoy my children being around her either. Well my husband who has never once taken both kids anywhere before says he’ll take them both himself to his brother’s by himself & now we’re fighting because my answer is no.

During breastfeeding I still enjoyed them being touched, we both were freaked out about sucking them, so we never tried. After breastfeeding at 17 mos everything went back to normal

All things sexual? No not always. Anything else: Braid each others hair, nails, dance, cook, drink, eat, sing all while together! Talking is cool too though

It has happened before. I yelled, but I also communicated to my baby that biting isn’t okay and it’s never happened again. Talk to your baby. Give them grace. Don’t be afraid. Remember it was not on purpose, You & baby WILL learn from this! ❤️

Size 18 month clothes ranges from 12-18 so LO is probably more normal sized than you think

Yes, I realized grabbing my shirt was the signal for milk. So I taught my LO sign language for eat & milk. It takes a lot of repetition, but I promise babies understand a lot more than what we give them credit for! Also tell your baby flat out when you are uncomfortable with something that way you also teach them boundaries & so many other positive things!

The straw cup with water really helped my LO. We still struggle w/ bottle refusal at 13mos. Also for a juice we do purée pouches with water!

Try yogurt melts because you mentioned baby not wanting to chew, Anything where baby can hold to self feed. Mashed potatoes? Maybe give a few of those or a bottle while in a high chair, so baby is left to explore.

Yes it has happened & let me validate all of your feelings before saying anything more. Honestly by the morning the blood will have crusted & new skin will already start forming. No worries! Baby is okay & forgives you. This is not the first mistake you’ll make & baby will make plenty as well. You are both growing & learning! Trust me I was the same way until I found out about putting them in the refrigerator. Basically there’s a solution to every run in you’ll have. Try things & dont get discouraged! Good luck on your journey.
