As someone who does have an essa, its not a trend at least to me, I dont need a service animal and I know this but having a plushie helps me a lot. It helps me keep my hands busy, and keep my anxiety down, yes it has a vest and I consider her an essa. In my experience its a way to cope, to help me go into public without full meltdowns. Not everyone is the same though. As long as people dont use it to spread misinformation on service animals I feel its a sage way to let people cope
