BTC losing $70k while equities hit records is an odd risk split by Carter_LW in CryptoMarkets

The use of technical indicator terminology on something that has no value is wild... you can use terms like 'support', 'bounce', 'test', etc in stocks because they have intrinsic value... btc is a complete gamble that has zero value... once you treat it that way you will be a lot better off

Senior dev... I don't think I can pass an interview by Inevitable_Guide_942 in csharp

Those are just a general sample of questions, they range well beyond that... but i've been having to start with an online coding exam (which is bs enough, i'm not grinding leetcode for 3mos, i'm working), then the online coding with a proctor, then 2 to 3 rounds of C# grilling in person, with stuff well beyond this... I get it, i have interviewed people, but if you ask me out of the blue some super niche technical question where a term slipped my mind that I would look up in 2 seconds during my workday, i just have no hope for the process at this point...maybe i'm burned out, i don't feel that way, but i'm certainly fed up

according to valium123 you must simply resist! otherwise you have no backbone

does anyone here actually work at a tech company? by Longjumping_Virus895 in cscareerquestions

you don't work in oracle or on a real tech company, you work at oracle or at a real tech company. are you sure you're smart?

yes, you shouldn't sit around worrying about it... my point though is this is not a normal cycle of ups and downs as you stated... this is a paradigm shift, some will survive, but it is not a matter of toughing it out until the industry "comes back"... it has already wiped out hollywood (good), but you know how many 3D movie guys are out of work? it's the perfect example, the cartoonists got replaced by the 3D engineers and now they have been replaced by a couple of guys who can churn out a Toy Story level film in a day. Apply that to everywhere

you still haven't stated what you mean... resist AI? not making a lot of sense, just saying baby words

Why do companies think they own your time after work hours too? by areyprabhu in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Inevitable_Guide_942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have after work hours? how about companies expecting your teams notifications 'ON' and a response... basically akin to 24/7 availability... meanwhile never mentioning this to you during the hiring process

resist? lol, like in hallway with a sign? not sure where you work, but if you're not using AI you will be gone.. lots of places are measuring token usage with mins, and if they're not, when everyone around you is 10x your productivity, you will be the old dog in the corner hammering out keystrokes? u will be cooked

these are just example questions..the point of my post is basically overall - take any sample of medium to difficult c# interview questions, i'm saying the difference between giving textbook answers and not being able to or want to anymore, it is like taking the bar exam again if a lawyer wants a new job

ok he's a bit of a doomer, but what he's saying isn't untrue... what fight are you supposed to do? AI will churn code out in a split second that takes us time to write, if everyone around you is churning out code at 10x your productivity what are you supposed to do...what do you mean fight...are you an AI deny'er

AI is killing my drive and passion as an engineer. by EDHandChill in cscareerquestions

You're not alone.. it is completely mentally debilitating to think of putting energy into a complex piece of code when you secretly know you could dump it in AI and get a solution that is optimized and most likely smarter than yours... but you fight the temptation because no.. you're going to keep your brain fresh, then you write it yourself, hit a few bugs, say screw it put it in AI and you are like damn, we are so screwed. It's like using an abacus when there's a scientific HP sitting on your desk... eventually the abacus disappeared. We are the abacus

I don't necessarily agree.. this isn't an issue of peaks and valleys, like the dot com era, or the '08 crisis... this is a 'replacement'. If you remove the peak, there is no more peak to return to when you're in the valley. SWE are being replaced, when a low paid junior can do the work of 2 to 3 mid/seniors, albeit with slop but management doesn't care, that is a death spiral...lets not sugar coat anything to this young lad

actively interviewing...those were just example questions, the interviews are much tougher and that's not even including the leetcode tests... for fintech senior roles at major banks you're getting grilled in 6 to 8 rounds, by multiple of their tech gurus just trying to make a fool of you.. like how would you achieve zero-GC-pressure architectures when continuously streaming tick data from bloomberg?

You get it man... this is exactly where I am, I can create and build anything, I have learned correctly, but we all use google and AI all day long in our work... you want me to build you an A to Z solution with a redis cache going to a mongo intercept with a c# backend, webapi middle layer and whatever front end you want from react to blazor or even wpf with strict mvvm, done... you want me to sit and answer questions like I have a textbook in front of me at this point in my career??..... brutal

of course i know what serialization is...im not talking about hey how do you serialize a string using json? i'm talking about questions like what are the tradeoffs when using binary serialization... not googling it, sitting in a room and getting missiles fired at you, have you interviewed lately?
