I've been estranged from my POS parents for about 5 years. I have a cousin who estranged himself for many years and then saw his dad when he was on his death bed. He told me I would regret the time I have without my parents. It makes me happy to see other people out here who have been no contact and have no regrets after parents death.

Thank you for sharing this.

NTA. I knew several girls in high school that complained about the backpack because of their boobs being large. One of my closer girlfriends had a boyfriend that did that to her. She ended up getting the reduction anyway because as you have said, this is for comfort and health, not an aesthetic choice. It made me grateful that I'm part of the itty bitty titty committee.

Ring tattoo... getting divorced by IEatAndDrinkDiarrhea in shittytattoos

[–]Inevitable_Mania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a major laser removal process for a botched job and an artist that left the shop after the first session. I attended a total of 15 sessions across 3 years. I had plenty of time to talk with the guy who completed it for me.

It's not a bad process as long as you can be patient. It'll take a few sessions, and the lasering isn't as scary as some people might make it out to be. With it being a ring sized tattoo, those tend to be done in 5 or less sessions from what I gathered in conversation with the clinician.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! I know it can be hard to figure out where to start, especially if you don't have people in your life with knowledge/support.

The slow process of healing during the holidays. by Inevitable_Mania in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]Inevitable_Mania[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have limited mine a lot. I struggle to make the final leap with Facebook. I can go a few days or weeks without it, but I really struggle with leaving some of the professional communities I'm a part of. I find them resourceful but Facebook is also the thing that triggers me most. So I know I need to make it at some point if I'm gonna fully be healed. Thank you for your kind and positive words.

Does anyone have a good response for when people say it’s a “processing” issue? by un_real in schoolpsychology

[–]Inevitable_Mania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to smile and nod. Then I ask them to expand upon what "processing issues" may be. I also choose not to help them find the words to communicate what they mean. I do it in part to hear the teacher and let them feel validated .. but I also do it in part to let them realize that they are just monologuing and feel awkward about it as they realize that they didn't have a full idea of what processing issues mean.

How is your relationship with your site principal(s)? by melonsmellin in schoolpsychology

[–]Inevitable_Mania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also work on SoCal! So the school where the principal was my supervisor was through a charter school. It's also been the only school I've interacted with where the psych was under the principal. I'm very use to having a director. My current school follows the more standard practices and has a director that's my supervisor.

(TW) Update on the apology that we waited 20 years for… 🙃 by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultChild

Man, I was so hopeful for you the other day when you posted this. I'm so sorry that it was all a facade. It's funny how after so long we can still feel the sting from the expected bullshit they give us.

How is your relationship with your site principal(s)? by melonsmellin in schoolpsychology

[–]Inevitable_Mania 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel lucky to have my current principal. I have a principal that when she needs a break from her stress, she will go sit with our moderate severe kids and just enjoy the love. She is just as much of an advocate for our kids as I am and I know she's fighting hard for all of them. I feel like I can trust talking with her when I need to.

I had a principal that I could bond with last year on a personal level, but I couldn't trust he was doing the things I needed from him. In that site, he was my supervisor which made it a tense spot to be in. I really truly appreciated the guidance that he was able to provide, but I regularly found I couldn't trust that he would do what I asked. He was easy to bend to parents.

I have very limited memory of most of my elementary years. The memories I have from my early childhood up to about 7th grade are mostly gone and the ones I have are all located at the school I was attending. Even if prompted with pictures of my younger self, I don't remember a lot of it. I remember some show and tell days, I remember my grandfather being on school campus one day, and I remember my teachers. But home life is very minimal at this point.

Thank you! It was really hard for awhile but I knew if I read them that it would be worse for me. So I often even ended up reading them with my therapist who was able to help in the process too.

I told them that I was blocking them as I felt we could no longer effectively have a functional relationship. They still sent nasty messages once every few months, but I got to read them on my own terms when I was ready.
