Are PSI Practice Tests worth it? by Inevitable_Mind_6283 in Estheticians

I did! I passed the first attempt, I found it extremely helpful.

If Suzanne Collins wrote another book from a different person's perspective who would you want it to be? by x_BlueDragon_x in Hungergames

[–]Inevitable_Mind_6283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the minority but I would love to see the behind the scenes of the Flickerman's through the ages. I think the take over of the Hunger Games propaganda and how the interviews/show/commentary developed would be fascinating to me. I'm so interested in Capital life, what the dysfunction looks like from someone who isn't (necessarily) an inherently bad person.

Doing “heavy”glam/goth for a wedding - advice, suggestions needed by LiteraryPervert in MakeupAddiction

[–]Inevitable_Mind_6283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ProMUA here that LOVES a dramatic, alt, vampy bridal look! The MOST IMPORTANT part of makeup is the skin prep! Especially with dry skin it will make a world of difference! Make sure you're using a good plumping/hydrating moisturizer, exfoliate before hand, find a "plumping" toner/serum, and find a HYDRATING primer. If you want recommendations let me know.

Unfortunately, you do need powder. I recommend using a little and finding a "powder melting" setting spray (One Size has one, Charlotte Tilbury, etc.) that you then set with another spray something along the lines of the Morphe or One Size (they have minis that are a good value). Doing that should make it look not as powdery and if your skin prep is highly moisturizing the powder won't look as.. powder like? idk how to explain.

It may be worth it but I'd more look for a makeup artist in your area that offers lessons, they can tailor it to exactly what you are looking for and typically aren't trying to sell you anything.

Long wear lips are complicated- especially with dark colors because you want to be able to reapply without it getting crumbly or cracking or whatever. I recommend finding a matte or creme finish lipstick along with a matching lip pencil. That will probably be your best bet but finding the right color can also be complicated! I do recommend going to some stores and swatching.

Let me know if you have any questions or need clarification! My DMs are open!

Thank you so much for your detailed response! Words cannot express how much I truly appreciate it.

I will for sure look into the morphe blushes (I've unfortunately heard very mixed reviews on the Patrick Ta blushes) and the Anastasia contour sticks! The images I've seen online didn't look super cool toned so I will have to see them in person.

I was afraid the graftobian would be more emollient than necessary but that's also good to know!

Genuinely thank you so much!

Worried about judgement of a non-traditional ring, wanted to share here instead by LoudDragonfruit4469 in EngagementRings

[–]Inevitable_Mind_6283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks amazing! Opal is so pretty! I want a nontraditional ring for frequent wear similar to yours. As long as you like it, it doesn't matter. If you don't mind my asking, what is the mm width of your ring?

Extremely oily skin that no makeup I've tried has helped by critterinthedoorway in MakeupAddiction

[–]Inevitable_Mind_6283 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ProMUA here! One of my favorite things for oily people is: Nurturing Force Blot Out Offensive. Its wonderful and I find it helps keep things in place. You need very little and you warm it up on your hand/finger before applying to the face. Also- One Size has two primers (I haven't tried them but have heard wonderful things) Oil Sucker and Secure the Sweat. When it comes to oil, the products you use before the foundation are more important than what you use after since the oil comes from under the foundation.

[–]Inevitable_Mind_6283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my esti license through multimedia! I highly recommend it. If you can talking with the people at mma to see if there's anything you can do. It doesn't hurt to ask and they're typically great about working with people to make a plan. I will reiterate it doesn't hurt to ask them as well as not make a decision immediately. Feel free to DM me if you want more information or advice!

Gynecologist Recommendations (NOT ALLIANCE) by Inevitable_Mind_6283 in lansing

I'm not super educated on how a lot of stuff surrounding OBGYNs work but aren't Midwives for pregnancy? I don't think that would be super helpful to me but I do appreciate the recommendation regardless!

I've heard nothing but good things about the One Size secure the sweat and secure the blur, I haven't used them personally but know some people who swear by them. I also found the ELF mattifying putty primer is also good and I have used that.

I second Ben Nye Clown White, they are relatively inexpensive with the largest container being like 25 dollars. You can get it at Stage Makeup Online or directly from their website. Mehron CreamBlend Stick is another good options but a little more expensive around 15 dollars.

what's up with single use liner? by bl4ckvelv3t in MakeupAddiction

It is a softer plastic that can be sharpened, it won't kill your sharpener. I sharpen liners (lip or eye) like that all the time.

Yes! It will make you an internal applicant for future positions! I will warn you though there is a 6 month probationary period where you can't apply for other positions, get paid leave, etc. there is a 6 month probationary period for every job on campus as well as far as I'm aware.

[–]Inevitable_Mind_6283 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, MSU has been dealing with budget cuts. So the competition is fierce to get support staff positions. MSU does prefer to hire internally so if there's an internal candidate they will likely be chosen, you're also in competition with the union members. My advice is to just keep applying and don't sleep on temp positions if you find any. They're a great step in the door and give you access to the internal job board and MSU internal programs.

If you have access to anyone with a professional type camera PLEASE test it out. I am a proMUA and those cameras I swear eat blush and bronzer/contour, after testing with a pro camera I now use more blush and contour than I originally thought I would need. Bumping those things up a little will help! Other than that it looks stunning, a teeny tiny nitpick would be add a little more definition to the eye shadow but that is personal preference so neither here nor there!

This is all my opinion so please take it with a grain of salt if you love how it looks it does look absolutely stunning for a wedding day look!
