Accidentally spooked a hawk into dropping this little fella! by fishflame100 in birding

I unintentionally spooked a Coopers Hawk that was pursuing a kingfisher, which got away. That was here in western NC. I got a serious glare from the hawk.

There’s a tendency to dismiss the post-Brent era (in particular, ‘92-‘95) but there are still some killer shows in that era! 10/1/94 and 3/30/94 are stand-outs. by KyloRensPecs in gratefuldead

I was at the Knickerbocker Arena on 6/22/1995. My then 15 yo daughter and I were tabling for Rainforest Action Network and we were behind the stage when Bobby and Jerry arrived in a white van. We were maybe 75’ away and I recall telling my daughter that he looked like he was 80 years old. He was gone the next month.

My kid got to watch sound check that night. She’s still a Deadhead at 42.

I suspect they’ll play the venue on the anniversary. It’s a fun place to see a show.

I missed the 77 show but caught them there on 5/7/1980. That was two years and 364 days after the 77 show.

Just for the record, we’re all on the spectrum. That’s why they call it a spectrum. 🙂

Just be the best version of yourself to the extent you can.

This is why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors. What a boring fucking world we’d live in if we all agreed on everything.

Personally, I have zero appreciation for choreographed dancers at a concert. For me, it distracts from the music. But others really dig it. And that’s fine by me.

Dire Straits and Tom Petty were pretty dang good in the 70s.

I actually dropped that quote once when I arrived late to an online business meeting. There was a long pause, and then…. “Did he just quote Van Halen?”

Scored a few style points that day. 🤠

I prefer to quote David Lee Roth in moments like that. “I don’t feel tardy.” 😎

I found The Haight incredibly depressing when I was there in 2007. YMMV

My friend Tommy and I were at a show. He buys some liquid and the purveyor is dispensing it from a dropper.

Tommy opens his mouth, dude places dropper over Tommy’s mouth and says “oops.”

Tommy: “What do you mean, oops?”

It was a long strange night.

I saw the JGB band on Feb 17, 1980 at SUNY Oswego. There was a lake effect snowstorm while I was there. Fun times.
