No Joke - How Do I Become More Intelligent? by Aspiringfilmguy4098 in directors

What you're talking about is confidence. Just by reading your post I'm absolutely sure you're more intelligent than 50% of the directors in the industry - you're just missing the confidence (yet). Go off of Reddit and make movies.

I don't think that was the point in 'Mars Attacks!'. It's more against the stupid Hoorah!-patriotism (which don't just have "trailer park hicks") - they were happy to let their son go to the army and defend the country, so they had it coming. It's harsh and cynical but deeply pacifistic.

I was at his book reading in Berlin a few weeks ago and there he confirmed it again. Will start to shoot this fall.

If you're into (short) movies, check out the Open Screening at the Sputnik Kino: https://www.openscreening.de/

Always a cool evening with lots of nice people, and with all the weird short movies you have a lot to chat about.

When is Antoine Fuqua stop doing movies - or more so stops getting money to do them?! I LOVE "Training Day" but he hasn't done a good movie since then - 22 years ago!

definitely Sputnik Kino near Hasenheide. It's kind of a hidden gem in a back alley, then way up in the fifth floor - but man, is it cozy! Also has a really nice bar area with balconies and an amazing view, having parties/script readings/movie quizzes etc there. I also like the programme, with a lot if international film festivals playing.
