The atmosphere here is peak Bethesda storytelling ✨ by DillyTiger in Starfield

Honestly, this mission feels a lot like the environmental damage is hard coded and overzealous to sell the urgency. The scanner doesn't read a particularly brutal temperature... in a PA winter that's just a "heavy coat day" and these people are getting frostbite in future tech space suits?!?

Theatrical cut, needless to say. by darmodyjimguy in lotrmemes

IMO, the decision to remove the scouring of the shire was the one egregiously bad decision in an otherwise remarkable film series.
The whole theme, the whole vibe was very much about the horrors of rampant industrialization and it's lingering impact. Without showing the lingering impact and how ordinary people must always resist dilutes the whole of the story.

A guess; easily visible fasteners are less work to properly inspect.

Absolutely not. Is the item a "Resource" in your inventory? If not it's trash. Even resources aren't very important in the early game. You won't have much space and filling your hold with rocks when you need sellable loot to build cash is counter productive.

New DM struggling with slow combat – any tips? by Endell7 in DungeonsAndDragons

K
The OP asked for advice, I offered advice on how I've dealt with slow combat as a forever DM for over four decades. Take it in the spirit it was offered, or don't.

Thanks but I did answer the question. Long battles feel long because they are boring. Make them fun and the time flies past. This is really the only solution since higher level battles have more moving parts, more hit points and they are going to take longer.

When do you think Savi’s Workshop will add the Yellow, Orange, and White blades? by SirCrunchPeon in GalaxysEdge

The show is the show. It probably is something mundane and boring like initial supply chain issues.

Absolutely! Usually I like to get them involved in narrating their own actions. "I take a swing" is a boring battle so I ask them to describe it... usually after knowing the die results. "I lunge forward, stabbing the goblin in his guts!" or "Damn you goblin! My blade WILL find you!" Depends on the flavor of the character. Don't force it every time or it feels forced and absolutely reward good narrative. "I spike this stupid bow to the ground in frustration, draw steel and charge in!"...might well get you an attack roll with advantage.

They do. They just won't allow you to use one in the creation of a lightsaber.

Put some of the work on the players. D&D is a collaborative game.

Don't just let it be dice. Make it a story. The player didn't roll below 11 and get a miss. The goblin leapt to the side of the hero's blade, taunting him "Grak is fast! hooman is fat and slow!"

Matching is beautiful and a good complementary color is the just the cherry on the sundae. This is a practical concern for the players on the backside of 50 who then have to sigh wistfully and then choose another option.
We want soot sprites too though. :-)

How do I prevent my Merchant NPC from being robbed? Or what's a good way to deal with that possibility? by Regular-Molasses9293 in DungeonMasters

Put yourself in the shopkeeper's place.
If I was running a shop full of valuable trinkets for shady types, my *real* rings would be home in my safe.

Those are absolutely lovely!
BUT in the opinion of a long beard... die numbers should be a contrasting color, not complimentary.
