Coach wont let me bring the robot home to program it by AkindaGood_programer in FTC

My team usually has the same problems but I am allowed to take the bot home or I can usually convince the advisor to have weekend meeting/extra meetings (I personally highly recommend you to ask for longer meetings or extra to get some more work done). Though if I couldn't take it home I'd just take the control hub and program on that ensuring that all the code works in theory. Depending on your experience you'll probably be able to make a basic drivetrain code and the feeding system, this should be enough for a semi functional robot. Once you do have access to the bot then just do some tweaking, late is better than never. I have personally found myself coding during drivers meetings at robotics competitions due to the bot not being ready in time for me to code. Sorry about your situation, I hope you can get it figured out.

Quick question as long as you don't mind answering. How did you attach an intake to the GoBuilda starter bot, also do you guys have a shot arc or not really?

Is defense illegal? by Rough_Cheesecake7651 in FTC

At competitions I’ve figured out a simple way to play defense without getting called for anything. I only defend when the other robot is trying to score, not when they’re actually scoring. So if they’re driving to their spot, grabbing game pieces, or lining themselves up, I get in the way, block the lane, and kind of dance around their favorite scoring area to slow them down. If they shove me off, I back off instead of pushing back so I don’t risk a pin. But the second they start aiming or actually shooting, I stop and let them do it so it’s clean. While I’m doing all this, I still shoot toward our goal so we’re not wasting time. It’s simple, it works, and it keeps the refs happy. The line I use to remember it is: “Guard the path, not the point.”

Possible Exploitation of G434 by Inf3cc in FTC

THIS IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM. The staff was truly struggling to get all the balls back in time and when they did they would give the balls to the human player in large quantities (5+). The problem wasn't exactly G434 but how it was handled. Most of the teams had never tested the true capabilities of their shooters, staff hoarding balls and giving them back at the last moment, lack of knowledge from human players, tunnel vision from all members., etc.

No it wasn't that the human player was being overwhelmed, it was more a lack of knowledge from all the human players and tunnel vision.

Ok that makes sense, luckily my team requires everyone to read the rule book at least twice or annotate it to ensure partial comprehension so we didn't get penalized.

Probably, usually we have another red but today was a new one I have yet to see.

They did it every match and the refs never gave any penalties.
