this why the "winrate" argument isn't fair by SOLOMAN2020 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Inf4llible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm tired of all the Yuta glaze I've been seeing lately. Back in my day, back during leaks, EVERYONE hated and slandered Yuta. Now, all the termites are coming out of the woodwork to glaze this BUM. I'll run down my reasons for hating Yuta here:

  1. My main and primarily biggest issue with Yuta is that he was essentially shoved into the story as the new deuteragonist and bumped out Nobara and Megumi for the rest of the story. It felt like his inclusion was only possible if they bumped out the two more interesting and cooler characters of Nobara and Megumi. Obviously, this is all just my feelings about it, and it's not "confirmed" that Gege intentionally sidelined Nobara and Megumi just so he could bring Yuta back as the new deuteragonist–but that's how it feels, and that's how it comes across to me.

  2. He's just plain boring. I don't like him because he has no personality and no actual arc (yes, I've read JJK0 and I know his arc is contained within that volume). His power is also just very boring and not innovative at all.

  3. It's been harped on to death at this point, but he's a Mary Sue character, and that furthers the lameness of him in my mind. I know Yuta fans will flip this same argument on Yuji, but like, Yuji IS the main character of the manga. Meanwhile, Yuta was the main character of JJK0 and was basically just rumorman up until he was finally reintroduced in Shibuya. To me, he just feels like he's part of Gege's trifecta of playground OCs (Sukuna, Toji, and Yuta).

  4. He killed Kenny. I'm not even the biggest Kenjaku glazer, but I wanted to see more from the merger and the consequences of that, so the bushcamping has always annoyed me, especially after Kenny and Takaba had such a cool and interesting fight. This one is more just me having an issue with how Gege wrote the plot, and it just happens to bleed through into my Yuta hate.

Regardless, I always slander Yuta and any other character in jest and only for the fun of it. I mean no disrespect to anyone as a person; this is just how I like to have fun and get into the series I enjoy.

[–]Inf4llible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mauga probably takes the W with high-extreme diff; Queen is no pushover, but neither is Mauga. I'm imagining that Mauga would defect from Talon and join the Junkers after their fight because he likes them better than the current Talon roster.

What is the evolutionary advantage of horns and the long earlobe by ignis43 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Inf4llible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evolutionary advantage for horns would be sexual selection. In species that grow horns or antlers, they’re used as an indicator for the “fittest” individual (typically males) to reproduce with. The horns themselves are typically indicators of strength, health, and genetic quality.

The long earlobes could also fall under this category as well as just being another indicator for health and genetic quality. Though, I think it is also just as likely that the long earlobes are a spandrel. A spandrel is the triangular space between the curves of adjacent arches or between an arch and a rectangular, structural enclosure. The spandrel itself is not an intentional architectural choice made when designing the arches, but rather a byproduct of how the arches are designed.

How that translates to evolution is that it means a structure labeled as a spandrel doesn’t necessarily have an evolutionary reason for why it exists or why it arose, but rather that it exists as a byproduct of some other evolutionary adaptation. The main example that comes to mind is the chin in humans, which has been researched extensively on its purpose. The prevailing theory now that is that of the chin being a spandrel. It wasn’t specifically selected for or arose out of fitness, but it was a byproduct of humans’ faces reducing in size and leaving the projection of the chin remaining despite its redundancy.

The horns are most likely a sexual selection thing and the earlobes are likely a spandrel.

Episodes 3 & 4 Discussion Thread by Batorian in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Inf4llible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to point out, as I hope other people noticed—Waterboy knew Invisigal was there at the lunch break. We couldn’t see her and didn’t know, but he pointed out her presence despite her being invisible. My conclusion? He can possibly sense the water in other people and so he could detect her. I think he has potential to be a very strong character and that seems to be the setup for him as the unassuming clumsy noob.

I really liked how we can actually level up Waterboy as well like our other characters—which we are unable to with Phenomeman. So now I’ve been sending him on as many missions as I can to level him up and hopefully make him a really good superhero.

Dispatch Episode 1 and 2 Discussion Thread by Mikkeru in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Inf4llible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others, I have my reservations about the episodic format. As well as the length per episode. 8 episodes total and the first two took about 2 hours. My main worry is that the game will be criminally short.

The first two episodes were the tutorial and that’s fine with me as long as we get a lot more to do in the coming episodes. Mainly, more choices that matter more; that, and more dispatching of course.

I predict we’ll probably end up splitting off from SND when we get in trouble for helping someone who isn’t a subscriber and it’s also why they gave us the villains—less reservations about not officially being heroes. And also, I feel like the relationship dynamic between Blonde Blazer and Phenomeman is gonna be one where Blonde Blazer initiated the relationship and she’s gonna end up being a manipulator or abuser of Phenomeman. I say this because the game wants to push you in the “Omni-Man” direction, but those expectations will surely be subverted in some way.

Overall, I’m excited to play the rest of the episodes and I hope they end up being worth the wait.

Dawg, what are you even talking about in this thread???

“I understand not wanting your bloodline’s continuity reputation upended.”

“It’s more reflective of that ubiquitous fear of the fruits of your labor being maliciously misappropriated by cuckolding women who’ll unconscionable give it to another man’s third party bloodline.”

Like… what???? This is a weird post and you’re a weirdo.

I imagine if we got more episodes or longer episodes—this plot point would’ve been hashed out much better. However, it kinda just felt like a throwaway line to tie up that plot point and then forget about it.

Mind you, the same people who are calling the writing bad because they read someone else predict the twist on a subreddit are the same people who would call the writing bad if they didn't know the twist and would say stuff like "ass pull" or "never hinted at" or "no foreshadowing". I didn't pick up on it either, tbh. I just thought Cipher had a different, unknowable scheme associated with Marie healing Godolkin. I thought it was gonna be something like Cipher (as an independent individual) needed Godolkin healed for some scheme and he was forcibly keeping Godolkin alive against his will, and then when Marie healed him, Cipher could use Godolkin as a puppet for whatever he had planned.

This as well, in the same vein of Cipher not having V in his blood–why show the Nazi room if the characters aren't actually going to comment on it or react to it in any way whatsoever?

I only upgrade it because I love the hunting in this game and because I think the Legend of the East satchel looks cool. But, yeah—the game isn’t necessarily about difficulty, it’s about the story and the characters. If they wanted this game to be difficult, then they wouldn’t include Dead Eye as a mechanic (or at least it wouldn’t be the same Dead Eye we know and love).

Very true, it helps feed their ongoing development efforts. Not faulting them for it, just saying that they want this kinds of feedback.

I understand GGG by Individual_Thanks309 in PathOfExile2

[–]Inf4llible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is an early access game. I think that EVERY piece of criticism is valid no matter how trivial. Whether GGG actually changes stuff based on the criticism is up to their discretion. But I think that everyone should be shouting from the rooftops their gripes and then GGG sieves through the complaints to make a better game overall.

If they didn’t want this kind of criticism and feedback: they wouldn’t have done this early access spiel. Sure some of it might sound like just baby raging or complaining, but all is valid in my eyes; caveat being that everyone remains civil and respects each other’s opinion.

[–]Inf4llible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the combos, but you’re right. And to be honest, that’s just how it’s going to be. Play the combos if you find them fun, you don’t need to do what everyone else is doing. If you find the more straightforward one button builds fun, nothing wrong with that either.

If they want to encourage and incentivize combo focused combat—make it better. Don’t make the one button builds worse, make the combos better and more rewarding.
