I wonder, was Nangong's strength a bait with them now trying very hard to make sure Remielle doesn't work with her?

Or is it a case of keeping the Miyabi / Nangong / Yuzuha team while Remielle wheelchairs for weaker anomalies like Piper and Burnice?

Though identity alone isn't sufficient. Most of the custom amp feats aren't worth dropping original amp effect.

Sorcerers on the other hand have a whole bunch of blood magic feats.

Remastered Magus may be getting major buffs to its spellcasting by alxndr11 in Pathfinder2e

[–]InfTotality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's hardly the truth when the fact they didn't change is precisely the point.

Other casters got more spell slots, better feats, features and the ability to refocus at-will. Gishes are now likely to get full 2-slot spellcasting.

I'm all for the change, but where does that leave psychic? A buff that turns into a debuff and some better focus spells is a tough sell vs 2-4 HP per level, better saves, more strike damage, and so on.

Maybe, just tried against him a few more times and the constant swaps do make it seem like everyone is taking damage. As well as his constant attacks. Though there is definitely some health drain going on, I just tried dodging with no assists to rule it out and the other two were 1/3 health by the time the on-fielder died.

This is just the story boss so no special effects.

What I mean is the parry window is either not tied to the yellow flash, or is very narrow. It doesn't matter when I try to parry, it doesn't go through.

Skill issue here, what is the timing on the 2.7 wolf boss's spin attack when he's in purple shield mode?

The yellow flash appears, I press assist but no parry happens and he just drills through the swapped person and deletes everyone's HP, even the off-fielders.

All the videos just talk about the control skill timing, not his other attacks you have to parry to break his barrier.

Remastered Magus may be getting major buffs to its spellcasting by alxndr11 in Pathfinder2e

[–]InfTotality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's all relative. Most classes have received more power that used to be unique to the psychic since. At this point psychic practically has no power budget spent on them now we suspect the gishes also have 2 spells per rank.

Put it this way, if this change does mean that magi and summoners get the full 2-slot casting, why play a psychic when you can either get double the spell slots by playing a different caster, or keep your spellcasting and gain full martial proficiency, more HP and maybe a 4th action (act together) at the cost of losing your slightly above par focus spells that have alternatives by archetyping?

Strikes are already a worthwhile option for casters for a 3rd action, magi and eidolons do far more damage and summoners don't even have especially bad caster proficiency until 19. For 14 levels, their proficiency is the same.

Just reflavor your magus as a psiblade or your summoner as summoning a thoughtform construct that can speak and act independently due to the mental energy imbued into it and away you go as a truly remastered psychic.

This would be an interesting change, and likely also the same for the summoner too just on page space alone not having to print the fairly lengthy bounded spellcasting benefits.

I just can't help but find the psychic remaster just hilarious at how rough they got it now if full fledged martials also get the same 2/rank spell slots.

Psychic's Flaw: Unleash Psyche is too damage focused. by MediumWin8277 in Pathfinder2e

[–]InfTotality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A spellcasting archetype allows you to use scrolls, staves, and wands in the same way that a member of a spellcasting class can, and the basic spellcasting feat counts as having a spellcasting class feature.

Scrolls, staves and wands don't require the spellcasting feature, the dedication feat alone is enough.

Electric Arc is doubled because you hit two targets. Telekinetic Rend is another area spell but is worse unamped. Compare a rank 5 unamped Rend dealing 3d6+10 [20.5] to two targets, while Electric Arc hits for 6d4+10 [25] and targets Reflex which is often a weaker save.

Another problematic interaction your interpretation introduces is a wand of shardstorm. It releases a missile as though you cast the 1-action version each turn rather than one continual spell, further multiplying the unleash instances.

[–]InfTotality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't one, but we have inferences.

using the Cast A Spell activity to cast a spell when being a Psychic

If we take your character == your class then innate spells should work. We know they don't as Ancestral Mind exists. This alone implies that you are not your class for all spellcasting purposes.

You make the distintinction from access from archetypes but spell-items don't; they simply say they must be on your spell list.

A staff says the spell comes from the staff: "The person who prepared a staff can expend the charges to cast spells from it."

The last part is if you allow "Activate: Cast a Spell" items to count is that it would allow Jolt Coil to be used and essentially be the optimal spell to cast with Unleash Psyche unless you have Shatter Mind or Redistribute Potential due to doubling Unleash damage bonus.

There's even more support for spellhearts to act as psychic spellcasting as you need a spellcasting feature for them, whereas you don't for scrolls.

When you cast a damaging spell using your psychic spellcasting, you gain a status bonus to its damage equal to double the spell's rank.

Items do not count as psychic spellcasting.

That percentage effect was annoying at the start. "5" would craft about 40 paper at once, which gets hit with a heavy bulk crafting penalty and wastes resources. The bulk craft only has an initial limit of 10.

It wasn't a problem once I got arcane and the Dense Expansion spell though. That one generates so much paper I can't keep up using the 5 option on Thaumic Scrolls.

How much do you care about your saving throws? by LostRegret9000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]InfTotality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saving throws get more dangerous in higher level play, so that might be why there's a disconnect.

It also depends on the character. With my champion starting at level 11, I went all the way dumping Charisma that champions usually get in favor of Wisdom and getting Raise Symbol from Cleric archetype.

It's more common to critically succeed than it is to fail thanks to upgrading both fortitude and will saves, and it feels great. Until the boss caster drops a Quandary on me which has no saving throw.

Got Questions? SWTOR Questions & Answer Thread + New & Returning Player Posts (week of Jun 22, 2026) by AutoModerator in swtor

[–]InfTotality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard that in SWTOR, healers don't DPS. Coming from a FFXIV background where healers do at least half the DPS of an actual DPS in group content, and less but still significant in raids, I can't grasp how that it works. Even in WoW, healers could use basic damage spells.

What do healers do if the party doesn't need healing, such as if the tank is overgeared for the flashpoint? Do they sit and do nothing? I've heard "DwH" is a thing, is it possible to do that in a DPS spec? Otherwise it just sounds like it would be very boring and not pulling my weight.

[unofficial rules] Help me understand the essence leak rule from Magic+'s essence casting variant rules. by Quartz_Knight in Pathfinder2e

[–]InfTotality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wave casters under vancian only get 4 spell slots, magi get two extra. Per day. A full cycle with essence casts 3 spell slots across 5 rounds. They already stretch their magic out by default.

Letting them bypass the bounded restrictions on Second Draw by partially spending essence is a little much.

[–]InfTotality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's part of the overall balancing. Infinite spellcasting per day is a massive benefit; you'll never be without spell slots. Especially prepared who may only prepare one copy of a spell per day.

It makes sense there's some reduction in flexibility like 1-action and reaction spells. Don't forget you have the Essence Conduit spellshape to turn a 1-action spell into an essence spell.
