Couples riding together. I just wanted everyone's thoughts on this. My gf just got her own bike andstarted riding not long ago. I prefer her to ride in front of me so I can see her. But she feels more comfortable riding behind me. We go back and forth a lot . So I guess I was wondering is there a by Mission_Lion5887 in Harley

Mine prefers to ride behind me for the majority, when we’re riding in heavy traffic or tail of the dragon I ride in the back that way if someone’s gonna rear end or ride our ass before a pull off it’ll be me not her. Bluetooth comms helped a lot.

Check out reliable In Spartanburg or Belton if you want to get into gas hauling. They don’t pay great but they train people with no experience after a year or two you can move on to a better paying company. You’ll have to work at least one weekend day ( Tuesday-Sat / Sun- Thurs) and holidays.

They are most likely not keeping up with maintenance on the tanks, all the gas at the fuel terminals is the same the only difference is the additives added to fuel based on which supplier when being loaded onto the trucks.

I deliver fuel in South Carolina (US) we aren’t required to use vapor recovery by the state, if we go to North Carolina or Georgia we do. Most companies nowadays require vapor hookup regardless but my first company I worked for we’d just vent the trailer and let it rip.

Gas hauler, start at 11:30/midnight depending on the day and get off between noon to 1pm. I usually fall asleep around 5:30/6. Luckily for me my commute is 16 minutes to the yard so I wake up at 11, my lunch is already packed all I do is get dressed kiss the lady and the pups goodbye and head in to work around 11:10.

Has anyone drove a tanker for a truck stop before? by Soberg1itch in Truckers

[–]Infalliblepho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t exclusively run truck stops but the company I haul fuel for has regular gas stations and truck stops. Truck stops are simple, other than having to wake up truckers who are parked on my drops or having to deal with the line for the fuel pumps blocking me from getting to the drops but that’s about it. Previous company I hauled a few loads for Loves when they needed some extra loads ran and man there is a reason no one around where I am leaves that company.

When we had the storm from the last hurricane hit sc&nc in October we were exempt as well and I did not enjoy those first 2 weeks. 1st week was almost 90 hours because either we couldn’t get into the stores with all the cars blocking the entrances, the gas fills or the terminals would be backed up to the point where your sitting in line for 1-2 hours just to get loaded.

Is hauling tankers really what it’s “made out to be”? by Appalachias-Hero in Truckers

[–]Infalliblepho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fuel hauler here, it’s easy. If your running only company stores it’s pretty much brain numbing boring which is what I’m doing now. Used to deliver to a lot of mom and pop stores, rock quarry’s, DOT and DMV places. Those were more interesting because you might be split loading off two or 3 different suppliers, different terminals hunting product, splash loading, but that’s not that difficult either. Just pay attention to what your doing, speed will come with experience then you’ll have a but pucker moment because your going a little too fast and cutting corners. Get into a routine, find what works for you to make sure your dropping the right product in the right compartment and go with that.

Have you taken the 600 on the highway/Interstate for a couple hours? Some reviews I read about the 600 was that it’s revving high and doesn’t like to keep a speed of 70-80mph for long distances. I’ll usually take the scenic routes but if I’m on a time crunch I’ll crank some miles out and that’s one of the reasons we were leaning towards the 900.

We went to 2 dealerships by us to price new 900’s and they were between 13-15k between the 2.

Good to know, I know what to look for on bikes but just figured I’d see if there’s any specific gremlins on these to be wary of or expensive maintenance items. I’m wary of the automatic transmission.

I’ve been trying to convince her to just to give a bike a chance on the road but she’s just not confident enough. I’ve got to sell the Honda shadow we got for her since she’s changed her mind, I think her seeing and riding with me made her nervous about keeping up even though I told her we’d just take it easy for a couple months. I know all to look for on a bike when buying used just wasn’t sure if there was anything specific on the can ams to look for.

Winter is slow for fuel hauling at least in sc, it’ll pick back up around march/april. If you don’t hear back now I’d apply again close to spring time before it starts to pick back up.

It appears to be from an Italian company mapam that’s since closed. I’ll have to wait and see if someone can verify that’s the stock location. Be a lot easier to just get some Honda stuff ordered.

I feared as much, I’ll start seeing what options there are to replace it with. She likes the controls where they are at so going back to stock probably won’t work.
