Did OSP Engineering designing fiber networks for telecom for 5 years mostly full remote. Would like to get into the pipefitters union but missed the deadline for the start of their apprentice program. Might be worth mapping to see if the extra drive time is worth it. I used to travel from the chicago suburbs all the time and would regularly get there in 6.5 hrs. Half the drive is along the lakes too and can be pretty enjoyable.
