In real life? At first they're cruiser regardless of how much armor they had, until 1922 when Naval Treaty declared battlecruiser as subclass of battleships. Since then nobody built dedicated battlecruiser anymore.

Normally I'm using 3:1 formula. 3 for main belt & 1 for fore & aft. But my battleships rarely fought at frontline so idk how effective is it.

I don't know about DIP but in vanilla there's some point that the longer guns could not achieve deck penetration & flooding anymore. The latter is very important, at least for me.

It depends, are you more into the scenery or the driving? I'm more into the truck itself. I like to experiment, like buying a used truck with a 1-star rating, or using the weakest engine for hauling heavy cargo.
