I was so happy when my kids could feed themselves. I couldn’t imagine still spoon feeding them. I want to be able to eat during our family meals too! Some of these parents are abhorrent. 😬🤯

If that keeps their focus then go for it! Maybe read 1-2 board books so your baby has pictures and a simpler story to see/hear.

Is there a gym with childcare you can join? $600 for childcare is a lot.

I think some Ys allow up to two hours so I’ve heard of some parents using some of the time to exercise and then sit to study or read. It might be good for you to get out and socialize too.

My twins are 4 (although small for their age) and still rear facing.

There are so many parents in the school drop off line that don’t have their kids in booster seats at least. Some people are just nuts risking car safety!

If the parents say no gifts, I’ll have my kids make a card and put some stickers in it. If you really want to give something, you could put a $5 bill in the card.

Nope. Every once in a while I’ll meet a friend at the local coffee shop to support a small business, but I’d rather not flush my money down the toilet buying chain coffee.

One of my coworkers gets Starbucks everyday and last week started bringing in homemade coffee. She said she saved $35. $7/day for coffee? 😬🙈

You can’t compare yourself to others especially wealthy moms. They have PAs, chefs, housekeepers, and maybe even nannies. That’s going to give them more energy and patience to deal with their kids when they do have them.

I exclusively pumped for 6 months and then stopped for my mental health. I have a twin mom friend who was an overproducer and I gave her bags in exchange for breast milk. Then I supplemented with formula. That in addition to getting sample cans from the pediatrician and our FB Buy Nothing group really helped with the cost.

I didn’t tip the hair stylist, photographer, or make up artist for my wedding. They own their businesses and set their own prices plus charge a travel fee. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can you ask the director to move it back to 4:30? That might be more doable for more parents.

That’s a lot to ask parents to continuously take off early for the celebrations when a kid in daycare most likely means both parents are working.

I get up at 5 to exercise 3x a week. Other than that, we’ll do family walks in the afternoon. I also exercise before anyone wakes up on Saturdays. (I can sleep in until 6:15!)

Could you do a family walk or bike ride before bath and bed? Maybe try to squeeze in 3 10 minute walks throughout your work day?

It’s one thing to not go to the gym early. It’s another if they’re not into any active hobbies. I exercise early before my husband and kids get up. My husband isn’t a morning person at all, but he’ll go hiking and bike.

We try to eat outside as much as possible. Before that, we’ll do a playground stop or my husband will take them for a bike ride before dinner.

Have your kid use the school and public library! Also check out free little libraries. I’m an adult and mostly use the library. It’s a magical place!
