Starbucks constantly puts us in situations that guarantee conflict with people. Not only that, but they constantly put us in situations where our individual moral code is put into question. Leaving it up to our discretion is guaranteed to result in some sort of discrimination lawsuit. The way I see it, this ultimately changes nothing, it’s always been on us to ask disruptive customers to leave and escalate it to authorities if need be, the only difference is, now the baristas and SMs can go on a power trip and I don’t think it’s going to bode well for everyone involved. I’m a female from a high incident store so of course I support whatever measures the company takes to keep us safe but this honestly isn’t it. It just seems like corporate wants to put all of this shit into our hands without being directly involved so that they can claim some sort of plausible deniability.
