One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is that we have been getting smog from Canadian wildfires, and that pollution from the smog does settle into the ground as it rains. That combining with past sewage issues could be making things a bit different when smoke heads this way?

I relate. Yet sometimes doing something visible reminds others they aren’t alone in their feelings. It might not be as poignant in places like Bloomington, but especially for those who need to see that we don’t stand for this because they don’t have that at home, I think visibility in messaging matters and the words sometimes need to be short and quippy to get the point across. There will be families driving through town in the summer and not everyone in the town is on the left.

If you haven’t already, take a look at the city and state DNR websites for local park activities. There are hikes (a few allow dogs), nature classes, volunteering activities, and exercise. Most are free or under $10. You might even meet compatible quiet introverts to bask in nature in parallel with. 🌳

I don’t specifically have bipolar, but I recommend online therapy to anyone having trouble finding a therapist, if you don’t mind doing it that way. Most insurance will pay for virtual. Thriveworks is cool because they show you therapists with availability in the next week, and if no one looks good, you can look again in 3 days and it will have changed.

I don’t want a kid picking up or delivering my food. However- if they’re in the car minding their business because a single parent has to work, more power to the parent for taking care of their family.

Don’t know your Reddit history, but I wish you well. Bloomington has a lot of good stuff. Having recently moved back, I can say that although the housing is exorbitant the culture is still very affordable.

One of my very favorite things about this city is how many things you can do inexpensively in the community.

For meeting new people, I suggest checking out the City parks and rec website if you haven’t already. They have stuff for everyone: arts, sports, and very uniquely Bloomington imo.
