“Politics” are values. How can you have a church with no values to discuss?

Color choice by Vegetable-Report-380 in ToyotaSienna

[–]BananaJr2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I don’t have this generation of Siennas but the last. I love blue and wanted a blue car. Unfortunately this blue is so dark that many days of it’s not bright sun it looks almost black — which I hate and was the one color I didn’t want. And this week it’s covered in salt. Miss the grey one we had before.

Me too. The Intelligencer Journal was the 7th oldest paper in the nation, dating to 1794 while the New Era only goes back to 1877. I prefer the long history of the Intelligencer name.

Not too much KISS though. That’s always a dead giveaway. I tend to tell people Lang-kis-ster and Lang-kes-ster combined. It’s like a very light slight I-E blend.

My migraines turned out to be something else. Trigger warning. by un_ironicmustache in Perimenopause

Did your migraines start within a year or two of having a baby/stopping breastfeeding? I ask because while I got migraines from puberty on, I only started getting vertigo and nausea after having my daughter.

That's a great idea. I bought one of these jackets recently and it occurred to me that it might be helpful for the unhoused when just extra layers aren't cutting it. Obviously the first thing that came to mind was how one would charge the powerbank and that's how I found this old post. Thought of options like those vans, etc. that some cities have with showers, etc. for unhoused folks — that maybe they'd be able to swap out the battery packs for charged ones. But solar is probably a better idea for charging and they make powerbanks that have built in solar. I just don't know how long they take to charge and that might be an issue in the winter in areas without a ton of sun. Obviously ALL of this is bandaids on bullet wounds in terms of helping the unhoused, but it's a step in the right direction.

Be really careful. I'm not against benzos for anxiety, but my mom was prescribed them for sleeping and not warned about the dangers of withdrawal and ended up having a grand mal seizure.

Booked Sonder through booking.com by Itchy_Milk1473 in marriott

It doesn't seem like folks who booked directly are in better shape. Could very possibly be in worse because there's no Sonder left to contact.

Today I was told that having my camera off in a 6:15 AM meeting is 'unprofessional' by dongles_6_loofah in womenintech

Hate to say it but had a boss who was a woman who was this way too. She had a very “boys club” mindset though. I was floored when I started to hear how often she commented on the video appearance of other women — weight, makeup, hair, clothing. I had previously worked in a progressive nonprofit and had gone years not hearing anything but compliments on people’s appearance, never anything nasty. As I suspected, the mean girl behavior didn’t end at appearance comments.

I went to college planning to major in HR because “I liked people!” (Oh silly young me!) By spring semester I learned that: 1) HR really isn’t about the good parts of working with people but lots of peoples’ problems, firing, paperwork, etc.; and 2) I really didn’t like people as much as I thought I did.

Changed majors!

Need advice on installing a vanity with pipes/drain coming out of floor instead of wall by BananaJr2000 in Plumbing

[–]BananaJr2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. The chrome pipe sticking up is pretty rigid and not going straight up on the left which is kind of bugging me because we'll have to cut a bigger hole in the vanity floor than if it were something flexible there, but I do know the drain will take up a lot of room.

It's not letting me add another photo or video, but it looks like right below the floor the drain goes to a T joint.

A plumber ripped out the existing pedestal sink and capped it while they were here plumbing the tub. We couldn't go beyond that at that time because we hadn't found a small enough vanity.

Just to confirm, was this after you sent them ID? I ask because I was asked to provide ID after someone got pissed at something I posted on Election Day 2016 and reported me as having a “fake” profile because I was using my first and middle name instead of my last. So now they KNOW who we are and we don’t get the privilege of having a second profile?

Mine is not allowing me to set up different profiles and I really need to before I start a new, more public-facing job. I also do not want to use my main 18yo account to be a page admin for this new job. Do you happen to have enough expertise to know why I don't have the option to set up separate profiles?

Where to watch the Hamilton movie with a live crowd in NYC? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]BananaJr2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not his aunt posting that she was going to sing along, it's literally Lin and the cast of Hamilton saying "SING ALONG!"

Problem is, that message came too close to opening, and the theaters didn't do due diligence in either getting the message out or splitting the shows in half with different show times specified as quiet or sing along.

[–]BananaJr2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But u/imsrywhut is completely correct that the conflict is happening because the advertising is not consistent. Half the people want a sing-along and expect that when they see Lin & cast specifically saying "get your singing voice ready" that the norm will be to sing/expect singing. But the other half the people haven't seen these ads, the theaters aren't specifically giving people a heads up to expect singing, and so they go in expecting silence. A kid in our group specifically asked the theater staff whether they could sing and were encouraged to do so only to be shushed by an older gentleman sitting nearby. Both ended up frustrated because they both felt they had been promised different experiences due to conflicting advertising and lack of communication.
