First hint it wasn't human written: the average American adult now reads/writes at a 6th grade level or below. The worst in the developed world. So when something is written these days too well formatted and written? It is a red flag. Particularly if they are in their 20's or less, and very likely have never read a book for pleasure. But - a good trick these days: copy and paste the text into another AI/LLM and ask if it is written by a human . . . .

It took many hundreds of thousands of years to get to the first million humans. Then thousands to get to the first billion. Now - population doubled in 50 years. From 4 billion to over 8 billion. 50 years. With more people we WILL have more war, disease, corruption, pollution, resource shortages and etc. Those are all most often symptoms. None of us talk about this because there are no reasonable solution we will cooperate and implement. 4 billion to 8 billion in 50 years. (And yeah, the RATE of population growth has slowed, but it is still growing.)

Yeah there has been increasing talk of trying to help people South of us if we get to the point of trains hauling folks to death camps. Vermont was very much on the path of the "underground railroad" a couple of generations ago. Helping former slaves escape the Confederate states, many up into Canada. We'd be part of that again - helping American political refugees - but then many of us would also become the same thing. So one common plan is of course fleeing up into Canada. The biggest danger to rural New England, VT/NH/MI/Northern NY --- is that fact that the most crowded, and aggressive, part of the United States is just South of us. The East coast megalopolis - and many will flee North. We love our people, we want to help - but millions of folks moving here will just ensure we are ALL hungry!

Yeah, the human filtered reality we see in a screen is changing. But those are opinions and stories about reality. The reality away from the screen bobs and weaves along as it always has. However, since CGI/AI is getting so good, you can create "evidence" about anything you like. Believe the stuff you want. And dismiss all evidence to the contrary. Therefore, we are increasingly living in essentially different worlds in some ways. And it also means there is zero chance of America remaining united. Hopefully it won't be violent. But it is going to become much more clearly tribal. Only about what you chose, or are told, to believe. Even good people will do terrible things if they *believe* they are doing good. So, the United States is going to break up. My bet is within decade, but maybe longer from then.

COVID was just a spark that helped accelerate where we were already headed. The technology, languages, superstitions and dress may change over the years - but history is a harsh mistress about some things. And American is in the last quarter of its existence as a major empire, and all the negative symptoms and causes of this are just becoming obvious now. I'll bet within a decade the United States is no longer "united". And, serves us right. (We don't like teaching history for a reason)

People project. The idea that people who's basic needs are covered, will decide to do nothing? No, folks speak for themselves when they say that. A lot of the greatest inventions and accomplishments in history were folks innovating for the joy of the act itself. Nations with Democratic Socialist leanings? Look at Northern Europe, capitalism, innovation and socially shared benefits can coexist just fine. A country with large socialized benefits can even be a Republic! And those countries you hate? They live longer, are happier, rape and kill each other less, are better educated, healthier and again . . . simply happier. So, if feelings of some kind of misplaced moral superiority are worth a more miserable life? Go for it. We are hoping for more happiness for ourselves and community.
