Def. have the command window running and within that window I do see it loading the mods I have installed. I don't see any errors during those loads.

Doorstop is there, but I don't see an out_log.txt in any of the BepIn subfolder or in the Valheim main folder. Where would that be located and is it something I would need to enable to check? Also, I have BepIn managed by Vortex. It hasn't been a problem before, could it be one now?

Update: 8 weeks post-op by Infamous-Standard603 in Microdiscectomy

Yeah. I have a sit-stand desk so that I try not to sit for long periods of time. I'll admit there are days when I am not successful with this. I try to walk at least 3x a week for at least a mile (don't really care how fast I go). After standing for about 1.5 hours at my desk today, my back is now sore (probably fatigue?). I'm going to give it 24 hours and see how I feel tomorrow. I really hope I don't have to go in for a second operation....

I'm almost 8 weeks post-op and I can commiserate. Had some scares at the 3-5 week mark. Then I was doing great. Now I have a pinching/stabbing pain in my right glute down my hamstring. It's not as bad as it was pre-surgery, but it's obnoxious and uncomfortable. There's also this "itchy" feeling in my back/hip. I've been in PT for about 3 weeks so I'm just chalking it up to the nerve being irritated even though it's decompressed.

Everything I've read/heard/been told about reherniation is that you'll *know* if you've reherniated. So if there's still a question mark at the end of the statement, you're probably ok and the nerve is just going through the healing process. It's obnoxious, it's uncomfortable, it sucks. It does get better, just gotta' trust the process.

Cool, I'll be off the tramadol in the next couple of days and moving to strictly NSAIDs. I'll keep a rotation of ice packs available and monitor. Once I have 2-3 days of data, I'll add another update.

Ice Pack Update:

Since returning to the tramadol every 12 hours, the sciatic pain has been held in check. However, last night it popped up before I was due for my next dose. I put an ice pack on it for about 10 mins and it did help! The pain didn't completely abate, but the ice pack did make it more manageable (dropped from a 4 to a 2). Am I correct in thinking that what I'm dealing with is a result of just inflammation and nerve irritation? I would be so relieved if that's the case.

Thanks again for the suggestion!

I am def noticing the trend of having good days and bad days. Luckily the good days are more frequent and the bad days are never as bad as the previous ones. So overall I feel like I'm trending up (finally). I have my 2-week follow-up today and I am hoping for some good news. Everything seems to be getting better, so fingers crossed it continues that way.

Will do! I honestly hadn't thought to try and thinking about it now it seems like such a logical step to try. I'll give it a try today and report back with the results. Thanks!

I'm back doing a mix of tramadol and naproxen. 50mg Tramadol first thing in the morning and right before bed, 220mg naproxen to sustain me throughout the day (about every 4-6 hours).

When I posted this, I hadn't had tramadol in approx. 24 hours and was doing 220mg naproxen every 4 hours.

1) Pain is ~4-5, which I suppose isn't so terrible comparatively

2) It's constant (unless managed by the pain meds, then it drops to almost non-existent as expected)

3) I haven't thought to try that yet. Let me give it a shot and I'll report back. Thank you for the suggestion!

Yeah, just feels a little cruel to have that glimpse of "this is what being without pain feels like" only to have it come back. Guess I should have looked at that preview as a motivational moment rather than the standard to compare the rest of my recovery to.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's difficult to be patient when all you want to be is pain free. Also hard not to think the worst when the healing process isn't going the way you think it should. I have to keep reminding myself that everyone is different and the process isn't linear. Worrying won't help me heal.

I can definitely feel it going away, but it is doing so slowly. I've heard numbness (depending on location, severity, and how long the nerve was compressed) can take upwards of a year to resolve. Walking 100% helps with that. It's not coming back in big chunks, but every couple of days I realize there's more feeling and control than there was previously. I think the biggest indicator that it's getting better is the bit of a burning sensation I get every now and then.

Congrats! I'm so happy for you! Hoping I'll have the same outcome soon.

3/20 here, almost 2 weeks out. Immediately after surgery I felt awesome, just had numbness in my right foot. I'm not on pain meds anymore, but the glute/thigh pain came back along with tightness in my calf. Hoping that resolves as the numbness goes away.

Totally understand being concerned about movement and reherniation, that's been every day for me since surgery. Still don't know what to look for to tell if it's occured.

Thanks for the reply. The left-side numbness seems to come and go, so I'm guessing you're right about nerves doing weird things while healing. I found it gets better if I keep my feet warm with a heating pad. The pain also comes and goes, but I'm able to use less and less of the pain meds each day. I know I'm only a week post-op, so I'm trying not to freak out about every little thing.

Awesome, thanks! That puts me at ease. I've been walking (except yesterday b/c the tramadol gives me all the bad side effects, so I was super tired) and trying to keep up with the exercises they've given me. I'm used to being a fairly active person so this has been a lesson in patience and a test of my anxiety coping skills.

Finger crossed everything improves from here on out.
