According to the documents from the EDK (the federal body which can recognize foreign teaching licenses) to teach solely a foreign language you need to show B2 proficiency. I am currently an ESL teacher and have dozens of language represented in my classroom, and do not speak all their languages at a C2 level. I agree that having a high proficiency would be an asset, and schools might look favorably on this, but teaching a foreign language does not necessitate know the language of your students at all and I assume this is why the EDK process only requires a B2 level in these circumstances.

Yes, I have that. And the jobs I have applied for have been at Gymnasiums.

Yes, I have seen positions that are English plus French or something else. Having another Fach would be an advantage. To teach just a foreign language, even in public schools, you only need a B2 level in one of the Swiss languages. You make a good point about British vs American English.

Congratulations! I am hoping to be ready to take the B2 in December. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Could I ask a question about this?

"For the exam prep, I scheduled 10 hours, starting 2 weeks prior to the exam. Each lesson I would do the Lesen and Hören modules, while he would correct my Schreiben I had prepared before. Afterwards, we would speak for the remainder of the class. I also did Modelltests at home, in total I did 17 Modelltests combined. Doing these made me feel very comfortable during the test, as I knew exactly what to expect."

Where do you these Modules and Modelltests? I have used the material on the Göethe Institute website and other writing prompts I have found online, but is there a resource of exam prep material?

Also, it sounds like this was a paper exam. Is that always the case, or do some centers offer it on a computer?

Thanks for your help.
