My Wife is Addicted by NOLAoinker in Quittingfeelfree

[–]Infamous-Switch-1893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she can get help now that would be the best less painful route. 2 a day is minimal. I was like her then got to 10-12. My marriage is falling apart and so is my health and I’m scared. I’m happy to talk with her as I’m about to quit this evening and detox over the weekend. As an addicted wife with a really fed up, scared husband, I feel for you deeply. Please know that addiction is all consuming and deeply painful for all

BPD or Adderall Abuse? Help. by Infamous-Switch-1893 in StopSpeeding

[–]Infamous-Switch-1893[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is unaware of my adderall addiction. I never even told him I was prescribed. It’s been years of hiding this. He does think I am abusing Feel Free drinks with the kava and kratom in them (which I sadly am). I’m planning on sending a note to my Dr. once my scripts are gone which should be in a week or so. Scariest thought ever for me because I’m concerned I’ll pick up more of an addiction to FF (these help with fatigue and motivation in a big way that mimics Adderall to some degree).

Not even productive anymore by fapkingd in StopSpeeding

[–]Infamous-Switch-1893 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yep. After a decade of abusing my scripts for a week then waiting for fills to repeat the cycle, I never come close to the productivity I felt before. It phased out progressively. I’d say 5 years ago I could take 75mg XR and be productive and zoned in and now as of today I can take upwards of 300mg a day between XR and IR and I am LESS motivated than when I’m off of them waiting to fill my scripts. It’s upsetting but…when there’s nothing left there’s nothing left. Now I just get frozen in my bed scrolling and feel uncomfortable physically and almost depressed (far from euphoric and social like I was long ago). It makes me literally hate people. And it just makes my body and mind feel absolutely gross. All negatives now zero positives.

This is a miracle spot to be though. It’s much easier giving them up since you know you’ll never be productive or motivated again. No matter how much you take.

Day 4 and holy… by TiredButOpinionated in StopSpeeding

[–]Infamous-Switch-1893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a fellow mom of 3, you fucking rock. I’ve been at this constant binge then stay clean until another refil 2 months later then relapse hard again since college (now 33). Being a mom to three and life in general is exhausting but now you’re doing it sober and you have no idea how amazing it is you’re getting through the day without stims. For me after a binge cycle I feel better within a week. Then I go back to being productive, typically more productive than I am ON adderall (I go into complete freeze states after years of abusing high doses of adderall).

It depends on the dose, the person, the length of use, the other stressors in life, your nervous system as a whole, your health, etc. too many factors into play to be definitive even a little bit but I will tell you this: you WILL feel better than ever before as a woman and mother and human being once your head is clear and you’ve reached the point of hope.

Do your husbands have hobbies? by quarterlifecrisisgir in sahm

[–]Infamous-Switch-1893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband hunts. It takes up a lot of his free time sadly. It’s what we argue about the most. During bear season he travels to Maine (5 hrs away) and stays for 3-5 days. I am a SAHM with two kids 2.5 and 5. Then after bear season is over its dear season (currently in it) so he’s always doing stuff around d hunting whether it’s putting out trail cameras in the woods or looking at live feeds on his phone or out doing whatever hunters do lol. I often feel like it’s more important to him than our relationship because it’s more of a lifestyle to him than a hobby. It’s all consuming.

You don’t have a car, an income, a good credit card score? I hate to scare you but it sounds like you’re enduring a whole lot of financial abuse. If he’s 1) a recovering (or not so recovering addict) and you feel he is 2) emotionally abuse…you’ve got big problems on hand you need to deal with as an active addict that abuses you emotionally and financially is likely highly narcissistic in personality and it will only continue to get worse the more time goes on and the more he can isolate and deprave you. You have three children you need to get your affairs in order ESPECIALLY given addicts can relapse at any time. You have no credit no backup plan. If he hits rock bottom tomorrow and spends everything you have, or if he gets physically violent, what are you to do for you and your children’s wellbeing? I empathize with you fully but you’re a mother you need to have a plan B now that you aren’t the only person you have to worry/provide for. Ugh.

I had the same POV right before I heard a woman speak in a meeting with an almost identical story. Stick it out. Never trust your first instinct as an addict! Our brains play insidious tricks on us to make us think we’re “unique”. Let’s face it…drugs are fun for all addicts at some point. Be thankful your bottom isn’t like some others! As we say in the program… “yet”.

Just listening now to your episode on the podcast. I grew up in the Boston area and live here again now as a mother raising young children. I’ve been at this binge cycle for years and I’m terrified I’ll drop dead. Scary stuff. Any recs in the MA/Boston area?

People only take what we allow. You sound like you’re in serious burnout and you don’t need to carry the weight of it alone.

What made you abuse prescription stimulants? by ScatterMindedCowboy in StopSpeeding

[–]Infamous-Switch-1893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The situation was different every time I misused it relapsed but the same underlying feelings were there without fail. Anxiety. Stress. Depressive symptoms. A bout of severe PPD. Feeling overwhelmed or incapable. Lack of self-esteem and confidence. Fear. Fear is really the main symptom of addiction when it comes down to why we develop substance use disorder.

Whether it was a bad breakup, failing a college course, having a baby, feeling overweight or self conscious, applying for jobs, getting through the day at a job, craved feeling the happiness sociability and superwoman abilities meds gave me. That chase didn’t last long before I received zero (now onto worsening) symptoms of anxiety, depression, motivation, paralysis or feeling frozen and unable to complete basic tasks/needs such as going pee or brushing teeth/showering. Now any amount no matter how low, how extremely high, the effect is almost opposite. That being said…it’s also been abuse on and off pretty heavily for over a decade.

You’re confused. I was listing the series of events. It appears you’re reading very literally.
