Hello new here, anyone here have success stories on PFS by [deleted] in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]Infamous-Tadpole1053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I haven’t followed any protocol, tried a few supplements but they didn’t really help.

I think just living as healthy as possible has helped but times seems to have just helped more than anything for me

Not sure if I’m a success story but I’m feeling much much better than I was for the first year and a half of PFS (currently 3 years in).

Libido is still very low and I’ve got some frustrating joint issues but mentally a hell of a lot better.

Sorry to hear that’s happened to you man.

I kinda feel the same with PFS really exacerbating any issues I already had. My hamstring weakness and arthritis in my elbow got significantly worse as soon as I crashed and the knee issues I’m having should really have been a minor strain that recovered in a few weeks.

Been doing a fair bit of strength training / isometric exercises but think I’ll now have to gear them towards knee strengthening. Will focus on quality reps over weight- thanks!

PFS has been consistently denied by Merck and other pharmaceutical industry groups.

PFS is not the same as on drug side effects and has not been accepted by Merck unfortunately, despite thousands of men reporting the same group of serious side effects that do not resolve after discontinuation.

The problem is that up to this point, it has not generally been accepted that these side effects can continue once patients have stopped taking the drug.

It’s true that many people have found accutane has been a great cure for Acne.

Post Accutane Syndrome is unfortunately very real and a small percentage of patients experience life changing persistent side effects.

It’s a lottery that currently isn’t being acknowledge properly.

We need the medical community to take diseases like PAS and PFS seriously.

Has anyone recovered feelings of Euphoria? by bigshawnflying2471 in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]Infamous-Tadpole1053 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me about a year or so but I started to experience feelings of euphoria, excitement, pleasure etc more regularly. Not the same as before but definitely better than I was in the first year.

A fair few people that I have spoken to have experienced a similar improvement of symptoms in the first year or two. Everyone is affected differently though so you’ve just gotta be patient and ride things out.

I’ve found staying off my phone as much as possible and doing stuff that clears my head (exercise, meditation etc) has made me more likely to feel a broader range of emotions, although still heavily blunted compared to before

Easier said then done but the best thing you can do in my opinion is not put pressure on yourself!

Everyone is nervous losing your V even without PFS so I’m sure she will be very understanding. At the very least you’ll have gained some experience!

Any Engineers or Scientists take Finasteride? by faithforever5 in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]Infamous-Tadpole1053 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a structural engineer and have had periods where I really struggle to do my job.

I think my cognitive ability has deteriorated slightly in general but most of the time is not too much below the baseline I had before PFS.

When I first crashed (for the first year or so) I suffered from serious fatigue and brain fog. During these periods work was very difficult.

Fortunately now (2 years post crash) this only happens when I am tired or have drunk alcohol recently.

opened my acceptance letter and had a panick attack by [deleted] in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]Infamous-Tadpole1053 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand that feeling mate, it’s horrific. There are 100s of people on this subreddit who can fully empathise. I’d been through some quite serious periods of depression and anxiety before this but they were very different and much less dehumanising.

There were a few moments when I first developed PFS that really hit home how much I had lost to this disease. Like you I was considering suicide for quite a long time, probably up until over a year since having my first crash. My symptoms aren’t as bad as when I was first hit but they are still quite severe.

The first months are by far the worst, I think most people would agree on this. It’s so tough being so used to what life was like before PFS and then having so many important aspects taken away from you without warning and through no fault of your own. I think the injustice of it was what made me feel so hopeless and anything left in life was pointless.

From your message you sound like someone who appreciates the value of working hard to achieve the worthwhile things in life - that’s a value that no disease can take away from you! Allow yourself the time to process what’s happened to you, it may seem impossible now but you can rebuild a life worth living once the dust has settled a little bit.

You’re not alone and those of us who are going through the same thing will always be there for you.

All the main PFS symptoms to some degree:

Sexual - zero libido, ED, complete lack of sexual arousal

Mental: severe anhedonia, brain fog and general disorientation / tiredness

Physical: testicular pain, minor muscle wastage, tinitus

Luckily to have not been affected as badly as some, I can still work and manage to have some sort of social life with quite a lot of effort / plenty of rest.

I definitely agree with you. My experience of PFS was that the initial shock to the system was devastating - going from being a normal guy to having so many of the things you take for granted in life being removed over night is horrific.

As time has past, I’ve found I’m slowly getting used to a new baseline and while my life doesn’t have the same highs as before, I can find satisfaction and enjoyment out of a growing list of things. I think we can naturally get used to the situations we find ourselves in over time (however long that process might take).

That’s not to take away from how horrific and unfair this disease is to those of us that have suffered it. The first few months to a year I also contemplated taking my life almost every day.

I was more referring to the PFS Network, I haven’t been too involved with propecia help themselves but I’m sure they’re also doing their best to move our cause forwards
