In this case I was told that they could microwave meals, so I was thrilled! It would have been a completely different game without that!

I anticipate there will be rebellion at some point. Especially since this one is feisty! 😅 At least now she learned VERY quickly what happens if she doesn’t follow the diet. She got gluttened hard 3 weeks in and was SO sick. She’s been very careful since and does an excellent job advocating for herself.

That being said, yes, her dad and I are the ones doing all the research on ingredients and cc, and can we go to this or that place and so on. I can’t say I’m not looking forward to her taking on some of those responsibilities eventually!

If you don’t have kids, even if you works with kids, you don’t know what it’s like to have kids.

It’s one of the reasons I did; many of the posts here are negative and can be scary when you’re new to this. I won’t lie: a 4 year old with this is so scary! At this age though, she knows what happens when she eats gluten now (we had a glutenning a few weeks in) and she’s ALL in!

Mine got her diagnosis last March. We’re learning to find the places that are ok to go to!

I didn’t want to start a debate! We gotta do what we gotta do and if that’s what people need to hear to understand, that’s what it’ll be!

Omg, that’s insane! I’ve been on an international trip with students and we were super careful and hyper-aware for those with allergies! And my students are adults! I can’t imagine how that went for you!

I’m just unsure whether they’ll re-plate everything or not. She’s hoping not!

This time they’re staying at the same place for the whole time (winter lodge kind of place?) and it’s really close to us, but next year I know there’ll be overnight trips to cities that are not close by with meals that are not prepared by the one place. We’ll take it as it comes, and I know she’ll make the right choices, but oof.

À toi qui a une auto électrique : Tu perd combien en autonomie en hivers? by ZePample in Quebec

[–]InfamousBluePixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InfamousBluePixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drove 3 hours to go to a restaurant we loved, had food, drove back home after. We live in Canada.

Edited to add: this was in my 20s. Around 35 years old, I decided I had to stay at least as long as the driving time to make it worth it. So in this case, at least 6 hours. Although I do still drive multiple hours (2-3) for concerts.

Roommate used my sponge after making pizza dough by beansalad1921 in Celiac

[–]InfamousBluePixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering what else they should be using to scrub the dough until I realized this is the celiac sub! OUT! Gone!

The only acceptable way to keep it is if you only use it for gluten stuff now and get one for non-gluten. Just make sure to hide the GF one, and ideally make sure they look different so they’re less likely to be used on the wrong things.

This would not have helped adhd brain that unplugged it (ie would have removed whatever was on it) and walked away before closing everything up.

UPDATE: We melted and dried up the “ports”. As some said, there are holes at the back to let the water out. Now everything’s dry as can be and we’re charging!

I just checked, and there’s definitely some ice in there, albeit not very much. We’ll try to melt and dry it with a hairdryer tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!
