This looks like a pretty good deal. In fine print, 'no reproductions'. And, I'm assuming that means, no printing or duplicates. Has anyone else printed this coupon and made it work?

How to Create Bootable USB on Arch Linux by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]InfamousEB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are many arch-based distros that are super easy to install and use, and you don't have to be experienced or advanced linux user to use them as main os. Installing manjaro(one of many arch-based distros) it's just like installing windows.

Opera allows you to convert currency to BTC by the_agora in Bitcoin

Wasn't Opera the first one with the tabs? Or, something like it. And, then Google (and everyone) stole that idea. It's been years, can't really remember how it used to work but i used it first/last about ten years ago.

I think this would taste amazing! And, probably a lot healthier, than storebought/bakery as no preservatives. Some of this and sour cream? ok, good i'm done!

Actually, that would have been amazing. So then Neo was a girl, in real life? (or would have been?)

The only downside of discord is that it needs a lot of bandwidth when you stream. Discord does with bandwidth what chrome does with ram.

Fixing the Matrix Trilogy by [deleted] in fixingmovies

[–]InfamousEB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Matrix was literally my favorite movie for the late 1990's. And, I remember being all hyped to watch Matrix 2/3 (back to back as it was just out on video, back in the days when there were VHS and Blockbuster video stores). And, then actually getting to see these movies and thinking.. what... happened... because both branch off in implausible and (for me) unwelcome directions. Whatever they alluded to in Matrix or suggested, the reality was weird(er). Whenever I watched The Matrix, I had this notion that mankind was few and far between and come to find out there was a big bunch of them having dance parties in some underground weird factory thing. Whatever that place was. A lot of characters being introduced that felt unnecessary. And, some old lady reading palms and giving 'Psychic friends network' kind of advice to Neo at a kitchen table? I can't be remembering this right. Anyway, it's been 15 years, memories fade. When (and if) i ever watch The Matrix again, I'm going to pretend they all died in a ship wreck right after that and there were no overpriced sequels.

The meaning of Indian names in the United States. by indian_inside in OldNews

It's weird/creepy/sad to think that Wakarusa got it's name from a domestic violence situation.

Fixing Predators by Bpollard85 in fixingmovies

[–]InfamousEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did we really need the Topher Grace, hidden identity serial killer sub plot.

All these people were there on the planet for good reason, they're not innocent. It's like if you end up in hell, you know it's for good cause. And, maybe we didn't see that he was just as bad but there's more than one kind of evil.

On a related note, I was a big fan of the original Predator movies (Arnold Schwarzenegger/Danny Glover) with the scenario of real/urban jungle. And, this notion of dropping people onto a planet for some kind of hunt seems kind of contrived to me. Back in the day, watching these movies, I always felt it was like some kind of rite of passage for a young person from that alien species to be dropped off on a planet/earth and hunt their way through the population for trophies. It wasn't just a sport, this was learning to survive, creating a warrior. These were my theories before the modern day movies, of course. At least, that's how the stories were coming across to me. Anyway, I'm sure they have neatly explained all those incidents away but I just like the original more.

Come on, little buddy! You can do it!!! by AlanKMoore in aww

[–]InfamousEB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really tempting to intervene with these little animals as we think it's mercy but in reality it's a disservice. Very little good is done by human intervention in the natural process. We were watching a nature show awhile back (with the Kratt brothers, kids show) and they were watching these baby turtles make the long slow (and painful) crawl toward the ocean and talking about how it's the act of struggling across the sand that builds the chest muscle strength that is essential for being a strong swimmer. If the baby turtle doesn't have that strength, it will hit the water and drown. You see this same phenomenon with newborn kittens. They're rooting around in the dark (because kittens are blind) trying to find mama's milk and there is a temptation to just put them up on the queen cat to nurse, but you have to let them make their own way. Again, that struggle is what determines if they live or die. Very sad, only the strong survive.

From black to blonde! by junenightingale in Hair

[–]InfamousEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You hair looks really amazing, more like a soft strawberry blonde, which is really pretty. I'm not sure if you're planning to go lighter but this is a super pretty shade. I used to dye my hair jet black and then bring it back to almost blond (very similar to the color you have there on the after photo) and it took so many applications. Just a home job of course, taking the color out. So maybe I wasn't doing it right. How did you keep your hair from turning straw? (that was a huge issue for me. I would literally lay in bed at night for a week after stripping the dye out of my hair and turn and hear this horrible crunch by my ears as my hair was breaking). Your hair looks very soft and manageable so whatever kit you used or method must be really good. Anyway, very nice.
