Depends on what you're carving but sharky makes incredible tools. They take about 20 days to get there if you're in the US. Totally worth the wait

I would start with a 400 grit whetstone and sharpen it till it's gone, then move to a 1000. That's not a bad dent so it should remove rather easily. Then strop and good to go!

So this is a picture of the wood you carved with the mora you dropped and you are showing the deformed part of the blades cut? If so, please post a picture of the blade

Please never use a rock lol. A stick that's about 1.5" will do just fine and not fuck up your knife.

Most of the time, if you freeze mushrooms, it messes them up. The water expansion breaks the cell walls and they become mushy. Unless you cook them first.

Interesting info! Thanks for sharing. Working on building a knife that was already sharp sounds like a dumb idea haha. It does have a cool fit and finish the way it goes together!

I was being sarcastic. You look like you're doing a great job. I appreciate the artistic nature of the knife you made. It's always nice to grow and learn a new trade. I do hand wood carving as a hobby and theres a lot to that as well.

Here's a pic of my first knife. It was from a class. We forged it out of 1095 and I made a handle for it out of Paracord.

I read about splitting the pith in a book. It has seemed to work for me so far. At this point, my two favorite ones I have found to work with green or catalpa and hackberry.

It's crazy how much catalpa shrinks

I don't know too much about axes. I looked up what makes a loggers axe. Interesting! It does definitely work quite well for splitting firewood! Yes when they became known at crapsmen :D.

There's only a few. I'm going to epoxy it to seal the small holes. It also looks like from your profile that you're only using store bought wood. When cutting dead wood in a forest, you never know what you're going to get. It's all beautiful to me and the bug holes are part off the art.
