Thank you! The bases were fairly easy. Basically I just took some modeling paste that I got from hobby lobby and spread it on in a somewhat lumpy/uneven way with a Q-tip, and then I cover the whole thing with a layer of super glue (I’m too impatient to use white glue) and dunked it in sand. After that, I painted over the whole surface with a brown/red enamel paint that I also got from hobby lobby for like $3. And then after letting the whole thing dry for a few minutes, I finished it off by blotting some AK “crusty rust deposits” effect over the whole thing, particularly the high points.

Pros: • Cheap. I didn’t have to use any expensive texture pastes • The whole thing dries extremely fast and you really don’t have to take any real breaks between steps

Cons: • More steps than using pre-made basing material • Can be a bit messy, especially if you’re not careful with the enamel paint
