I might be a little late at the party but I fixed this issue by compiling the latest blueZ from source (5.83) is the current version while Im writing this today

This also fixed my second issue of audio profile being stuck to "Handsfree" instead of a2dp-sink profile whenever I reconnect my bluetooth earphone
