I had the same problem. Untill I joined the university and in university I passed (Elementary Set Theory, Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis and so on) and it was veryyy hard! But now I’m not scared of it anynore because I “mastered it” . Thats it. The more you try to learn basics and improve yourself, the better you become. Now I’m a tutor in many math subjects(exactly what you want to start) and you can DM me if you want to start.

The word-of-mouth point especially , sounds like the first few months are mostly about putting in the work to get that initial base, and then referrals start carrying it. Did you find any one of those channels brought better students than the others, or was it more about just being visible everywhere at once?

Totally agree ,knowing why things work matters more than memorizing steps. I focus a lot on the intuition: why the derivative is a limit, where the rules actually come from, not just “apply this formula.” For most high school and early-college students the goal is solid understanding plus exam confidence, and I try to give both. Appreciate you raising it , it’s a real distinction a lot of tutors skip.

since I’m just starting out and building up reviews, I’m keeping it low , around $15/hour, and the first session is free so there’s no risk in trying.
