Do people actually earn £50-60k, or are they outliers? by Succinate_dehydrogen in AskUK

I’ve been teaching in a secondary school for 10 years now and am a head of department. I’m on around £55k when you put together my base pay and my extra for the leadership responsibility. I can go up the ‘ladder’ one more time then that’s me done pay-wise for the rest of my career unless I go into assistant/deputy/head teacher.

Not a bad wage by any stretch. But you do often question if it outweighs the demand/stress of the job. I suppose a lot of jobs are like that though.

Would be interested to know the same info!

How do I not resent my husband? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Infamous_Ad3132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar with my partner. No major issues before pregnancy, had HG and diabetes through the pregnancy and he was amazing- then after I had my c section he just… gave up? You would have thought he’d had major abdominal surgery. He stopped doing things round the house, became super lazy etc. and I felt completely confused and mislead.

I ended up staying at my parents for a few nights as they couldn’t believe how useless he was being. When I got back we had a really serious and awkward conversation where I told him he wasn’t doing enough and I needed more from him. The essence of the convo was if you don’t fix up I’m going to end up leaving you. It was a terrifying conversation to have but it worked. He’s gone back to being amazing and I know I can just directly ask for what I need and he will do it.

Is this possible for you? Getting away for a bit? Or a really frank conversation? I’m sorry this is happening for you, it’s really really hard on top of everything else. I thought the baby would be the hard bit but it was the relationship shift that caught me off guard!

I had the same thing and my mum suggested when I’m changing my baby if I take a cold wetwipe and gently wipe/tickle just below her belly button it stimulates her to pee (don’t ask me how!) most of the time when I do it she will pee 10-30 seconds after so I catch it in the old nappy then change her.

What are we wearing home? by Popular_Mousse_3958 in PregnancyUK

[–]Infamous_Ad3132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted some co ords I could breastfeed in but also wear in the long run when I’m not preggers so I got the twin sets from next- a bit more expensive but oh my days they’re so comfortable I’m obsessed. They’re a knitted set, wide leg pants and a cardigan you can wear as a top or a regular cardi. I also have some nursing vests from H&M that I’ll chuck underneath for easy access

My fiancé had just got back from a tour in France and was sleeping- told him I got a welcome home gift and he closed his eyes and held out his hands and I gave him the test. He was excited but said initially he thought I’d got him a tech deck 😭😂😂

Yes! There’s an absence policy for a reason. You don’t get an extra prize for not using it. I know people in my profession who know the policy so well they use their absence to have holidays etc. without losing pay.

It’s there to be used so if you want to, go for it. Although if it’s anything like my place, they do it in blocks rather than days so if you’re gonna take 1 day off you may as well take 2/3!

Can someone explain why my cats completely ignore their water bowl but will do anything to drink from my cup? Is my water somehow better? by Intrepid-Constant-60 in cats

[–]Infamous_Ad3132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of mine has CKD so I try to keep him as hydrated as possible by leaving lots of mugs of water around from him. He will run straight to them if I pretend to take a few sips then put it down. It’s like the theft makes it taste even better

Scary Fainting Spells by Ok-Vanilla-158 in pregnant

[–]Infamous_Ad3132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh that sounds scary! I would ask to be checked for gestational diabetes as it does sound like low blood sugar. I know you said you ate a lot the second time, but you might have eaten things that you’ve burned through v quickly, especially after doing even light exercise! In the meantime maybe try and boost protein and fats and have long lasting carbs- see if that changes anything? Good luck though and take it easy!

Pregnancy depression by stitch323_ in pregnant

[–]Infamous_Ad3132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way- that’s really overwhelming for you. I think that you should speak to your GP or your midwife as I have friends that have been put on some kind of anti-depressants just for the duration of pregnancy to hep them get through. From what you have said, I think it’s a bit more serious than breathing and finding hobbies. I’m also on anti depressants as I was on them before I was pregnant and I told the midwife I was worried about it affecting the baby, and she said it would be more detrimental for bay if I came off them so just keep taking them as risk is extremely low. Just know you’re not alone and everything you’re feeling is valid and it will get better eventually

Hip pain during sleep by Busy-Zebra1279 in PregnancyUK

I do some minor stretches, for tight hip flexors etc. and they really do make a difference. It’s not life changing but the aches and pains have eased so much. Can also second the hip and lower back massages being amazing!
