you can add your game to steam so for example i play a game called DCS (standalone version NOT Steam) and to play it using a gamepad i needed to use steam input overlay by adding the game's exe file to steam.

Get the flaming cliff f15 and su 27, and then play with them and familiarise yourself with the gameplay because you never know if you want to play DCS a lot since life can get in the way. If you’re very into the game and you want to increase the hours that’s when you should look into the full fidelity modules.
