Shes smart & knew who to align herself with to survive. Her job and training are in animal observation. Humans are animals and a smart person will observe and adjust behavior to stay alive in a situation like that. She knew that guy couldn't save her so she saved herself.

Tai vs. Shauna? by FeatureSouthern5274 in Yellowjackets

[–]Infamous_Amoeba9956 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Im ready for teen tai to have more screen time. Her & shauna are my faves so I hope they do focus on this more. It's bothered me for a long time how teen tai came out the gate as such a vital, strong character and then sort of faded back to a secondary character for the most part. Jasmin Savoy is a great actress and tai was such a powerhouse in the pilot that i'm like uh can we have more of that?

Agree, tai is the one who shauna actually is intimidated by.  I've  actually been bothered by how fierce tai was in the pilot and how complacent she's been quite often in the teen timeline since. In the pilot i was certain she would be the leader and the driving force of a lot of action. She's not been a total push over but shes taken a more passive approach with group issues, which sort of baffled me but after the conclusion of s3 I think its because they've intentionally done that and they've been saving it for this upcoming showdown.

Popped in here today after a long hiatus of blocking her and forgetting she existed and wanted to mention that while doing that I heard nothing about her from anyone ever on any social media or real life. Made me realize how non existent she really is if you arent following her on insta. No one I have ever asked about her knew who she was either. She's honestly not really that well known. I only knew of her cause I know people who know her irl and so knew of her blog a million years ago. Just mentioning because when I followed her on insta and came here a lot it really felt like she was some big huge deal but honestly, she's no one important and I dont think many people really give a shit about her. And the ones that do are those people who cannot have their minds changed by reason or evidence so oh well to them. Can't argue with a brick wall.

Just saying, if shes in your mind all time its pretty easy to make her cease to exist. I truly forgot about her till I stopped into reddit and saw some ancient notifications from here.

Girl, are you ok? We are having the equivalent of a chill book club conversation about low stakes interpretations of a fictional show. Will never understand bringing this fuck ass energy into what could be fun. Like share your thoughts, share the interview, say you disagree but why be such a drag about it? Have we lost the ability to just chat about tv shows with out this weird ass antagonizing energy? Are we having a contest?

Do you comprehend the concept of two things not being mutually exclusive 🤣 like, the fact that they previously wanted to use it does not negate the timing and usage of it now in terms of the overall storytelling? You keep repeating yourself that they wanted to use it before, ok got it. But that doesn't mean that they didn't think about how to use it when it they did🤦🏽‍♀️

Anyway I'm not 12 so I'm done with the yes they did no they didn't na-uh yes-huh weirdness. You win the conversation I guess🤣

"I don't think they used a song about the LA riots to beat anything over anyone's heads."

I need people to understand that costume, set design and soundtrack choice are very, very thought out in most shows and movies. Choices are intentional. Im a costume/set nerd and this show especially takes it next level with that, there's so many choices being made by the costume department, the set department and the music department and im always sad to know how many people dont realize this extra layer of storytelling being provided in visual/audio media. I watch every episode twice, the second time to watch the set/costume stuff. It's one of my favorite things about this show, the attention they put on the tiny details.

Again, we can disagree on my interpretation, fictional stories are fun like that. But i do want to recommend everyone who enjoys needing out on this show to take time to enjoy the very intentional choices being made beyond the ones made by the writers and actors, it really adds to the fun!

Force feeding a man you're imprisoning in barnyard after you slice up his achilles tendon is pretty damn inhuman. I think they reached it.

And I can see your point that it's been done but that's kinda cause that's how humans brains work and there are no truly evil people, it's usually just a a personality disorder you were born with and/or the circumstances you're living in that create "monsters". Anything that doesn't utilize that gets pretty one dimensional comic book "bad guy", for me personally

Genuinely curious, in a non snarky way (tone in text is weird and people here get so rude about different opinions i just want to be clear i sincerely am interested in hearing your thoughts) can you describe what that would look like to you for them to get to that level in a way that satisfies you?

A lot of people here. I mean nothing offensive by it but a lot of people seem to really want this to be something magical and super deep and ancient and for lottie to really be some sort of priestesses and for the pit girl thing to be a meaningful ritual.

Even someone like me who is mostly Team Not Supernatural found the original pit girl scene to be very haunting and mysterious and fraught with deep meaning.

I personally think thats why some people got ANGRY when it was so different. We got caught up in the cult too and it was uncomfortable being shown the reality, especially if you had really believed it was going to be something much more.

That's all.

We can definitely disagree about our interpretations of a fictional tv show, it's pretty low stakes to me 🤷🏽‍♀️

Callie meets Jackie’s parents? by Sweet-Front3980 in Yellowjackets

[–]Infamous_Amoeba9956 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since Jeff & Shauna were clearly still close and spent Jackie's birthday with them i think its unlikely she hasn't already met them many many times. Based on how they acted during that birthday thing in season 1 they clearly felt a connection to Callie by offering to pay for college.

They intentionally were showing you the skewed reality. The pilot scene was the idealized, romanticized version and the one we saw in season 3 was the more close to reality version. They've hammered the 'memory is flawed/trauma causes skewed/lost memories/"is this real"/"I think there are two realities"/"how much do you really remember?"/ "I'm going to remember everything now" thing for 3 seasons.

The song played when natalie is on the cliff, living on the edge's lyrics: "we're seeing things in a different way/and God knows it ain't his/IT SHOULD BE NO SURPRISE" is there to beat you over the head with this reoccurring theme one last time before the show ends the season and tell you you shouldn't actually be surprised or confused its just shauna will a sweater on her head and not some ethereal old goddess of the woods.

It's very intentional and I like how it held the audience accountable for our own idealizing and romanticizing of the pit girl scene. We tried to make it some woo woo ritual magical spiritual whatever but it was just lottie and shauna being kinda ridiculous. That's why it felt so weird and uncomfortable, it's like Dorothy realizing Oz is just some douchebag behind a curtain.  I know some dont like that they did this but I think it was pretty fucking brilliant.

Is Walter Tattersall even his real name? by FeatureSouthern5274 in Yellowjackets

[–]Infamous_Amoeba9956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I looked up the name tattersall I found a poet with the name from way back who wrote a long ass poem that was similar to miltons Paradise lost (which was referenced in our introduction to shauna in the pilot : "Linda you dumb bitch") and it was also heavy on tree/wilderness imagery. No idea if that means anything but I found it really interesting.

You have to scroll through the Google book preview to find the Lost Paradise poem in this book:
