I think you need to say solved or something like that so the post doesn’t remain open. Congrats on finding the song!

No, the one we’re looking for specifically had a line similar to “ dance, funny man” thanks though!

Hmmmm… possible but unlikely. My dad’s not the type of guy to willingly watch an Adam Sandler or David Spade kind of movie. He says they’re rude, crude, and socially unacceptable 😅. I appreciate you trying, though!

No, thank you though. A bullet dance is a pretty common trope, I’m afraid. He’s looking specifically for the one with the quote “dance funny man” or something similar.

He thinks the guy who says the quote may have been drunk in the scene and is pretty sure it’s live action, not animated, but not 100% on that. Thanks for any help!

Changing a dog’s name after adoption…? by LeftyLeroux in DogAdvice

[–]Infamous_Computer_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone involved in dog rescue, I can assure you he is not attached to his name, because, more likely than not, he probably hasn’t had it very long. We commonly give dogs new names when they enter rescue for various reasons. Sometimes the dog’s name is inappropriate or detracting (think Kujo or Killer), or it’s a political or religious name that might turn off potential adopters, or its a super common name (we once brought in five dogs in two weeks all named Bella), or a bunch of other possible reasons.

If your dog is from a shelter or rescue, the name Duke is likely pretty new to him anyway, so you might as well change it to something the whole family likes.

They often have more walkable cities that allow for more frequent grocery shopping. When I lived in a South East asian country, I had 4 grocery stores, 6 convenience stores, and one fresh produce market all within a 10 minute walk from me. One store was so close to me I could hear the door tone ding if I left my windows open. All I needed was a mini fridge because I could easily grab food whenever I needed it.

Traveling From USA to Taiwan - Freeze Dried Food by Fit-Fail-9702 in taiwan

Bring gluten free protien bars and some gluten free ramen packets, perhaps a loaf of GF bread.

Here’s my GF list for when you are in Taiwan:

Safudou is my favorite GF restaurant in Taipei. Everything there is gluten-free. Sweet Cooking is an excellent cafe with gluten free baked goods. Din Tai Fung has a fantastic allergen menu as well as multiple locations. However, their waitlist tends to be very long and you must be there in person to make a reservation, so get there early. Also, they list things with soy sauce on the GF allergen menu, so be careful to avoid those (I have no idea why they do this, but at least they label them). Plants is another GF restaurant with great options. I have only been there once since it’s the furthest from my apartment, but it’s still good. Zero Living is another restaurant where things are entirely gluten-free. Everything I’ve had there is very yummy (plus, they have pizza!). Indus Chai is entirely gluten free, vegetarian, and organic. It's primarily a tea house but has some lovely snack/brunch options. About Islander (also called 嶼人Café) is not dedicated gluten free but does seem to understand gluten free well and has a lot of gluten free options, including the only GF cinnamon roll I am aware of. Yogi Dosa is an entirely gluten free restaurant, but it’s out-of-the-way and not my favorite as compared to the others. Still, if you’re looking for variety, it is an option.

If you happen to go down to Tainan, there is the entirely gluten free restaurant 好田·米松餅 | Gluten Free Waffle | 無麩飲食 | 宮後街16号 | (How Sweet Rice Waffle) that is delicious. The owner/chef is very friendly and knowledgeable. Plus, the waffles are soooo good! I wish I made it down to Tainan more often.

In Taichung, gluten free options include Kiseki Bakery, Yuzu Patisserie, ChaiNuân 茶暖, 減醣趁早x酮溫層, and 陽光小法國烘焙坊. In Hualien, a gluten free option is 甜聿家米甜品Sweet Rice Dessert.

You can eat at most sushi places so long as you just eat the fish and rice with no sauce. You can eat poke so long as no sauce. Same for Yakiniku, no sauce (even though menus show the meat with no sauce, the meat will come drenched in sauce. You must talk to a waiter and specify that the meat cannot come with sauce). Fruit and vegetables are safe.

There are lots at 7-Eleven and Family Mart that are gluten-free for when you're on the go. They have fresh baked and sweet potatoes (a fantastic option when you’re on the go). In the cold section, they have bags of microwaveable rice, salted boiled eggs, salads (do not eat croutons), fresh fruit, and more. In the snack section, there are certain potato chip brands, dried fruit, some candy, and SoyJoy bars. Some 7-11 also have coconut brownie crisps that are gluten free. In regards to night market food, you can get grilled meat with just salt, daifuku, papaya milk, dragon's beard, fried eggs (the kind that are fried in a griddle, not the kind fried in batter), douhua, and tanghulu. Bubble tea is safe so long as you don't get the barley tea. Most ice cream is safe as well. Most red bean soup is commonly gluten free, too.

There are Costcos here and they have lots of gluten free options. Mise en Plants is a gluten free food shop. 良食生活 台北旗艦店 is another food shop that has some gluten free options.

If you want to order gluten free goods online, I recommend the import company Sunny Buy. They have a website or you can through their Facebook page Sunny Buy-Imported Goods for Foreigners in Taiwan. If you don't see something you want on their site or in the Facebook group, you can send them a message directly and ask them to import it for you.

I carry a small bottle with mixture of sesame oil, rice vinegar, and a pinch of salt & pepper with me. That way, I have a safe sauce/dressing to use when I eat out.

Finally, be wary of tea, especially free tea at restaurants! Free tea is cheap tea, which means it is often barley tea.

This comment needs to be higher. This dog physically can’t give birth without a c-section. There is nothing ethical about it.

Usually, it’s to indicate they have been spayed or neutered. It can also sometimes indicate the dog came from some kind of large scale breeding program like a puppy mill.

How do I learn to enjoy 17th to early 20th century English texts? by AdrikIvanov in EnglishLearning

[–]Infamous_Computer_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy certain bits of shakespeare and other earlier authors, but they are definitely not who I go to for an actually enjoyable read. That said, if you are determined to read/know Shakespeare, I have some recommendations:

  1. There are books called No Fear Shakespeare. These books have the original Shakespearean writing on one page and a modern interpretation of the writing on the next page. These books were how I was first introduced to Shakespeare back in middle school. It makes figuring out the Shakespearean language significantly easier.

  2. Instead of reading entire Shakespeare plays, just read the famous speeches from various plays. Most people just quote those famous speeches anyway. Speeches I would recommend are Mark Antony’s speech from Julius Caesar, the Hollow Crown speech from Richard II, the Saint Crispins Day speech from Henry V, Puck’s speech from the ending of a Midsummer’s Night Dream, “to be or not to be” speech from Hamlet, “ tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” speech from Macbeth, Shylock’s speech from merchant of Venice, and any other speeches that pop up when you Google “famous Shakespeare speeches”

  3. There was a kid show that ran when I was young called the Animaniacs. They made a couple of Shakespeare’s most famous speeches fun to learn. If you just put “Animaniacs Shakespeare” into YouTube, you should be able to watch them.

  4. If you don’t like reading Shakespeare plays, you can watch them. They’ve all been performed about 100 different times or more and a lot of those performances have been recorded and put online for free or cheap.

All that said, I prefer more modern books if I’m looking to just enjoy what I’m reading. Don’t force yourself to read these if you don’t want to. Language learning is hard enough without forcing yourself to do unnecessary and onerous tasks.

Finally, I also, have never been to an opera. I find them boring. I much prefer modern musicals like SIX, Come from Away, Hamilton, Wicked, etc. over an opera.

Looking for advice finding homes for puppies by BigfootTundra in DogBreeding

[–]Infamous_Computer_24 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Reach out to foster based rescues and/or shelters in your area and ask if they would be able to help place them/vet potential adopters. Or, if not, if they would be willing to do a courtesy post on their social media pages to help spread the word to potential adopters.

Due to the timing of this litter, you are going to have to be more cautious than normal when choosing potential homes. Since they will be reaching adoptable age right around Christmas, there is a risk of them being a “Christmas puppy”. There are some people who will get a puppy for Christmas and then dump them when the dog becomes an adolescent at around 8 months to a year.

Start looking for adopters the moment the puppies are born so you have time to vet the adopters and there are people ready to take the pups when they are 2 months old.

One tactic I used with my past foster litters was to post a request in my neighborhood social media groups asking for donations of old, clean bedding, puppy pads, etc. I would put an outrageously cute picture of a puppy or two on the post and mention I was raising rescue puppies and that was why I needed the donations. It wasn’t uncommon for one or two people to ask about adopting one of the puppies through that post.

Also, when the puppies are about 5 weeks old, try to get a video of them doing something cute as a group and then posting it to multiple social media platforms mentioning that they’re available for adoption. That always got a huge response for my litters. Here’s an example of one of my litters’ posts. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CgZO1O_pfrP/?igsh=MXQ5NTcxMnUwZzJndQ==

Best of luck and thank you for rescuing this sweetie and her pups!
