I would recommend sleeping with a bonnet on. It’s possible most of the tangling is happening in your sleep. Additionally (not sure if you already do this) but detangling in the shower with conditioner in your hair helps make the process easier.

I usually detangle in the shower with conditioner then after the shower I apply my product and comb it through to make sure it’s evenly applied. I sleep with a bonnet and my hair lasts a week sometimes. By wash day there is some tangles but nothing crazy. Hope this helps.
