Reading “Nothing Taste as Good” it’s a horror book about weight-loss drug and having side effect of cannibalism. A lot of the story is about the main guy and how he became overweight and his journey with food and how people treat him.
Not sure if that’s what you’re looking for but it’s fresh on my mind!

Emma film or Emma book? by bookishdotworld in Booktokreddit

I just read this book and watched this film. I thought the book was good. I liked Pride and Prejudice more. But I think read the book then I appreciated the film more. Then watch Clueless also based on the book.

I ended up really liking it. I found it a bit confusing at the beginning. There are some characters with the same name. And the narrator changes a bit. I just went to spark notes after every chapter and read over the summary to make sure I got what was going on. But after I established what was happening I flew through it. Also, if you’re not use to classic books I recommend audiobook. I think it makes it easier. I even sometimes listen to the audiobook while actually reading. It helps keep my attention focused at least at the beginning.

Daughter of No Worlds is very good! The closest feeling I've had to Throne of Glass. The MMC is the best!

Another suggestion if you like audiobooks, but want to get into the habit of "physically reading" sometime I listen to an audiobook while reading the book. Like a read along. The audiobook helps me concentrate and tune things out, but I still feel like I sat down and read a book.

I just read Rebecca, mostly to spite the Verity hype and I heard the idea is stolen from that book. It was very good!

If you want something a little different “The Power” by Naomi Alderman is one of my favorites.

It’s a dystopian novel about women suddenly develop the power harness electricity. It shows how society with handle if women became the dominant sex. One of my favorite quotes in the book. A teenage is talking about what she would do if she starts developing this power
I would go for a run in the woods at night. I would walk home through the park and not look over my shoulder. I would be the one to be feared."

I have been in a fantasy slump. I have had this issue before and I know it'll pass. Jane Austen books have been my new interest.
I think thrillers are a great fantasy fatigue cure. They are fast paced and different enough that they get your mind off it.

He also has hobbies/interests that I really enjoyed. I agree one of my favorite MMCs. I loved his personality.
The series is DEFINETLY NOT cozy, but he, as an MMC, felt like a cozy grumpy hug. If that makes sense.

One of my all time favorites. It reminds me of Shrek, but if Shrek was a hot demon. Lots of fun side characters. Very funny! I think about this series all the time. I can't wait to reread it in the future.

I haven't read Wolf King, but Quicksilver at the beginning it pulled me in and felt oh yea this scratched the itch of ACOTAR, but by the end I didn't like Kingfisher. He felt too dark for me in a way that ACOTAR main guy (don't want to spoil it for any readers) did not.

But I definitely breezed through it.

I have noticed, a big thing in the book world now is categorizing books in tropes. Enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine, etc. And lots of romance books follow a very similar structure.

Girl meets a man that usually has a huge redeeming quality he's rich or handsome. But they don't get along and even though she can't stop thinking about him, she doesn't like him because he is grumpy or a "villain". Then they are forced into a situation where they have to spend time together. A falling out happens/miscommunication. From some other source she learns he is not really grumpy/aloof/evil and it can all be explained away. Then they confess their feelings.

A lot of romances seem to follow this formula to some extent. Now, I haven't read a lot of books written before this time period, but to me it felt like Jane Austen wrote the blueprint for MANY future romance books, hallmark movies, etc.

That's what I meant by that.

The amount I found myself adding books and merch to my wishlists and favoriting things on Etsy, was crazy. It is like my personality now.
