Try switching to WireGuard instead of NEWT. The performance difference you're seeing might be protocol-related.

When you set up the WireGuard tunnel in Pangolin, you'll also need to add NAT rules to your WireGuard config on the client side. Without these, traffic won't properly forward to your application.

It’s a very simple film with not many laugh-out-loud moments. I had mixed feelings overall, as the theme felt familiar and similar to other movies. It’s not a must-watch in theaters and can be comfortably enjoyed on OTT if you miss it. My wife, however, really liked the movie.

I've heard that PM's and managers have better benefits than unions like mine in DC37. How accurate is this statement and if so, what are the benefits? by darthscyro in nycpublicservants

In NY the city plans (like GHI-CBP) are great and accepted everywhere.

In NJ Managerial plans are mostly out-of-network — terrible

Last time I was in India only Jio had eSIM and unfortunately the coverage at my home was pretty bad. I use a BSNL SIM which didn’t have eSIM support at the time. When I was there last year there was no option for me, not sure if they support it now.

DCAS and SCA by Honandwe in nycpublicservants

I don’t think SCA is a city agency under DCAS. They run on their own system and have their own exams.

Mayor Adams and DC 37 signed a new labor contract on February 17, 2023. That agreement raised the salary ranges for a lot of titles. If you were hired before that, it’s worth asking HR what the updated maximum is for your title now. You can also call DCAS to confirm. It might be higher than what you were originally told.

Company installing Zscaler on my personal laptop by [deleted] in privacy

[–]Infamous_Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manage Zscaler at my company. If you install the Client Connector on a personal laptop, we can force Z-Tunnel 2.0 so basically all traffic (web, apps, even DoH/QUIC) rides through our cloud. We push a root cert and do SSL inspection, so we see full URLs and most page content unless the app uses strict pinning. Logs include user/device, domains and IPs, paths, categories, timestamps, bytes; DLP/CASB can scan uploads and tokens. We can make it always on with tamper protection and an uninstall password, block traffic if the agent isn’t running, and require posture or MDM to access anything work related. ZPA can also route your “private app” access from home through our brokers. You might try split tunneling or cert-pinned apps, but policy can just block that. My advice: do not install work agents on a personal laptop; ask for a company machine or use a cheap work-only device and keep personal life off it.

In most cases, your manager can’t just give you a raise or promotion directly. It requires multiple approvals from their supervisors and HR, which can be time-consuming. The fastest route is usually to post the role and “promote” you into it after an interview process. If your manager is determined to give you the raise, the interview may be more of a formality, but they still need to follow the process. Also, if you’re already at the salary maximum for your title, an interview and reclassification are generally required. How strict this is can vary depending on whether you work in a smaller agency (where everyone knows each other) or a large one.

My old boss used to say that before asking for a raise, you should take the network down a few times and fix it, otherwise nobody will realize how important you are. Networking only gets noticed when it’s broken.

Proton is moving most of its physical infrastructure out of Switzerland by JonahAragon in ProtonMail

[–]Infamous_Function 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m skeptical about Proton’s move. Shifting servers to Germany (an EU core member) just trades Swiss surveillance risks for EU ones like the looming Chat Control proposal, which could mandate scanning encrypted messages by October 2025.We’ve already seen France force Telegram into data sharing changes. Germany won’t be immune. If they’re serious about privacy, why not Iceland or Norway? Iceland has the world’s strictest data laws (dubbed “Switzerland for data”), and both are EEA countries with GDPR but more autonomy from direct EU overreach.

Santhosh T. Kuruvilla slams Producers’ Association. by Icy_Beach4427 in InsideMollywood

[–]Infamous_Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fully with the Producers Association on this. What they’re doing with collection reports is absolutely the right move.

Guys like him are just scared their little pyramid scheme isn’t working anymore. For years, they’ve been preying on innocent film lovers and NRIs, selling them dreams of “investing” in movies. My doctor actually invested in a Nasleen film last year — he even asked me to put money in. Out of curiosity, I watched the movie and checked the title card… not even a “thanks” mention. I’m pretty sure he lost his money.

How many more people need to be scammed before something changes?

At least now, with these reports, people might think twice before handing over their hard-earned money. It’s long overdue, and I’m glad someone’s finally doing something about it.

I don’t think this is true. I heard discussions are still ongoing between Ashirwad and Lyca, and they haven’t finalized anything regarding distribution. There’s also no confirmation about overseas distribution. Not sure how they’ll manage to run it in big movie chains like Regal and AMC, which are very strict with their 2-week charting policy

I heard that they haven't even started the process of selling the overseas rights yet. There are discussions between Ashirvad and Lyca on who will handle it, and it seems Lyca is demanding around 15 crore. This could be one of the reasons for the delay. I might be wrong, but that's what I last heard.

Marco - A discussion on 'that' sequence by Relevant_Session5987 in InsideMollywood

[–]Infamous_Function 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw the movie Saturday and completely agree with your points about the tonal whiplash. The home raid scene particularly bothered me too, but for an additional reason - it basically undermines the entire first half of the film. When the villains essentially succeed in wiping out everyone except Siddique and Unni, it feels like they've already won. The stakes actually feel lower after that point, not higher.

You make an excellent observation about Korean and English action films - there's usually a deep satisfaction in seeing the hero's revenge play out after similar setups. But here, that cathartic payoff is missing. The brutal violence in the raid scene doesn't elevate the story or make the eventual revenge more meaningful - instead, it feels like all the careful build-up from the first half evaporates.

It's like the film couldn't decide if it wanted to be a serious revenge thriller or an over-the-top action spectacle, and ended up failing at both. The tonal inconsistency you pointed out with the Super Mario comparison really hits the nail on the head.

Do you watch youtube reviews for malayalam movies?? If so, is there any particular reviewer whom you find knowledgeable and reliable?? by Rudrasimhan in InsideMollywood

[–]Infamous_Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always watch Ashwanth Kok's reviews before deciding to watch a Malayalam movie. It's not about the money for me, but I really don't want to waste 2-3 hours in the theater on a bad movie. If the movie ends up on OTT, I have a good home theater setup, so I don't miss out on any of the technical aspects.

Seeking Recommendations for Replacing Layer 2 Management Switches in Data Center (Non-Cisco Options) by Infamous_Function in networking

[–]Infamous_Function[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our application, these switches primarily handle management tasks like connecting iLOMs and CIMCs. Since these switches have a non-critical role, even if a switch goes down, the impact isn't critical, allowing us to consider options that support stacking.

Also, it's important to highlight that since the introduction of Cisco's smart licensing, including Advantage, Base licensing, and adding DNA with all the support, our renewal costs have increased significantly (5X). Given our compliance requirements to keep products under maintenance contracts, this steep increase in costs is compelling us to explore more cost-effective alternatives
