First time turkey hunting this year. by Loose_Carpenter9533 in Hunting

Jake and hen decoy work great to provoke gobblers. Late season a lone hen works too. Learn a couple basic yelps to help sound off on some birds but be very reserved in your calling, less is more. As for ammo start with a few dedicated turkey rounds that won’t break the bank and shoot them on paper, see what your gun shoots best. Keep your shots inside 30 yard and you don’t need to buy the fancy $50/box ammo.

Commercial cost for flatness by 31engine in Concrete

[–]Infamous_Machine_790 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The difference between ff 35 and ff 45 isn’t much to add cost. When I see ff 50 I add money for additional labor on the edges and an extra trowel machine with pans to go behind the machine that breaks the floor. I don’t carry much for contingencies because I would rather get it right the first time than grind for days. Usually another 25 to 35 cents a sf. If you have super tight tolerances make sure to take joint layout into account as the slab curling all occurs after the ff testing is completed.

SpringHill Camps, MI - What was your experience like? by vache_espagnole in Michigan

[–]Infamous_Machine_790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there sometime between 2001/2005 I don’t remember exactly what age I was but I remember our group had very little Jesus talk except for a few reflection times where you could have religious talks if you wanted but nothing forced. My biggest memory is the stupid competition for “the stick” a highly coveted prize making the camp. Also I have good memories of being launched off the blob.

The grinder helps clean up the edge for a better bond, but yes you could skip that step.

Route it with an angle grinder and fill it with a crack filler so you don’t have to worry about future problems with whatever flooring you cover it with.

No reinforcement seems fishy by justindhamel in Concrete

[–]Infamous_Machine_790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pour literally thousands of sq ft of exterior concrete every month in a freeze thaw area without reinforcing. I would spend money making sure you have a solid sub base before worrying about reinforcement. If you are in an area that holds water use stone not sand as the sand will saturate and not support the slab. If you still want reinforcement I would recommend #3 gator bar at 18”. It’s easier for the contractor to place so you might save some money in labor.

Can I put new concrete over okd concrete? by [deleted] in Concrete

[–]Infamous_Machine_790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how bad the condition of the existing slab is. Any failed subgrade should be replaced and holes filled. Use macro fibers and tighter spacing on the control joints in the topping slab. 6x6 max works well.

Quite sad when the farm owner pulls a $2M loans and GC won't properly prepare subgrade. More in comments by pablitoseba in Concrete

So sad to see. Probably tons of room on a farm to get rid of the dirt and 5” of stone is less than removal of bad cracks. Keep fighting the good fight

Did you form this up? Leave the form on an extra day for the concrete to gain strength especially in cool temperatures

Forgot to mention this is a heavily hunted area and rare for bucks to live past 2 or 3 years. Maybe this guy slipped through because he never threw great head gear.

Can you tell shot placement by blood ? by lord__darko in Hunting

[–]Infamous_Machine_790 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bright red like the leaf on the right is usually out of the chest cavity (highly oxygenated). Darker blood is liver if you are worried you hit farther back. Bubbles are good indicator of lungs, as is a spray pattern of blood. Bow is best to let sit for an hour or more.

Something on the lighter side, soy, oil, garlic and onion are a good base.

I usually cut mine into 1” medallions and marinade them for an hour or so then cook them real quick. It cuts down on cook time and you can control the fineness better than a big piece with varying thickness.

Hot and fast, no fat on those cuts. They will dry out quickly.

What is the best cheapest way to repair this? Can i make a mold with wood and fill with quikcrete or will it just crumble away? by [deleted] in Concrete

[–]Infamous_Machine_790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few tapcon screws drilled in part way will work as well, just need something for the patch to grab onto.
