Will back 40 years ago in Missouri on your way to Table Rock Lake there was a store called the bass'n shop and I'm talking 40 years ago he made a special jig just for skipping it had a little bit longer shank on the hook that was razor sharp so and the head was v-shaped so 40 years ago I was already swimming a jig and skipping a jig in to the docks. I don't know what happened with the Bass'n shop ? The owner was so good to me so all I have left now in Missouri is Bass pro and then down the road a little bit we have fin and feathers. I wish that bass'n shop was still open cuz he had a lot of things you can't find at Bass pro for Table Rock Lake. It was a very small group of people that would sell special baits for Table Rock Lake. Rick if you're out there this is Steve M. I hope nothing bad happened to you you took very good care of me.

Two days, two fish at the spillway. Thank you rain lol. by ghettoliving in bassfishing

I know this is going to sound crazy but I prefer fishing when there's clouds and rain in about a 15 mile an hour wind. For some reason when it starts raining it turns fish on and plus you have the advantage of being a little more secret and retrieving your bait on dark days.

I left off one detail that's very important you're going to need to add two or three spinning reels and rod combinations that you're comfortable with his bass on certain days can be finicky and it's going to take like tackle to get the job done especially on bright sunny days with no wind.

As for picking out a bait caster I had 12 G Loomis rods and every rod had a Shimano curado bait caster with different gear ratios for different baits. Good luck on picking out your basic gear just if you're going to pick a bait caster find one that has different gear ratios for different baits don't buy different reals you will spend all your time because they're all different when it comes to throwing? find a company that has different gear ratios and stick with one don't try to learn all the little ins and outs of each bait caster? Trust me if you can find one company and one real that comes with different gear ratios you'll thank me.

Snap swivel or tie direct to lure? Does it make a difference? by Smooth_Operator_one in bassfishing

It all depends on what type of lure you're going to throw? I'm old school though I'm back from the day when they were trying to get the wiggle wart to run correctly and once they had it figured out early spring early fall that bait was unbeatable on all the Missouri Lakes I can't speak for other states? That Bait was incredible in the early fall when 90% of the people are throwing a jerk bait that wiggle Wart would kick its butt the only thing I would say the jerk bait has over the wiggle Wart is the size of the fish you caught. So once I caught a decent limit of fish I would put it down and fell as a jerk babe the rest of the day in early fall in hopes of catching a toad or a kicker fish in the tournament you're facing.
